Well it looks like the new doujin fashion for 2012 is a shot-type-controlled-by-input-code system.
We're seeing it in ∀kashicverse and now here's GalaX
When you activate your radar it locks onto enemies and "hacks" their behaviour in different ways depending on the codes you input whilst the lock is active. Enemies can be frozen, suicide or start attacking each other.

I've only seen that GalaX has just had a big update (20th May 2012).
So that means that whole ∀kashicverse input code system is not a new innovation at all.
Any other shmups that use input codes to control weapons (obviously Radiant Silvergun uses key combos except in the dumbed down 360 version but that's not quite the same thing)?

Oh, it was 2003 it seems.
And for answering your question....Hikware's cancelled Shooter's Solitude 4 allows you to input specific codes to power-up your ship.
Or Tyrian, perhaps.
