I recently aquired an dvdo iscan hd to use with my PAL Super Nintendo.
Made a Female scart to RGBs + audio cable. Everything works fine, the only issue i have is a checkerboard effect on the entire screen.
I tried my Gamecube and it has simular checkerboardmarks.
Now i've been wondering what i can do about this - a bad scart cable? Both my gamecube and Snes cables are from ebay with the same style of AV connector and a thin lead.
Or what i have found - using pure sync instead of composite sync.
But what can i do to solve this? Using an LM 1881 to clean the composite to pure sync? Or should i get a NTSC Snes which outputs clean sync? Or maybe i can get it somewhere on my Pal Snes?
Best case scenario is a LM 1881 to get clean sync - then i could add this to a scart-switch!
Super Nintendo RGB - Composite or Pure sync?
Re: Super Nintendo RGB - Composite or Pure sync?
I can tell you I got a moving checkerboard pattern across /some/ colours on my PAL SNES + DVDO Edge combo. Adding a sync stripper didn't cure that.
On my SFC, I only get the checkerboard on PAL games, switching to raw sync cable cured it completely for both PAL and NTSC.
SNES/SFC's seem to vary a lot, so your mileage may vary.

Good, someone with simular experiences!
Think i'll grab an US snes of super famicom, then i'll have a complete image and full 60hz speed aswell!

If you have access to one, try another PSU first.
Re: Super Nintendo RGB - Composite or Pure sync?
Oh yes, absolutely try that, my SFC seems really picky about power supplies and more sensitive to ground loop interference than anything else in my setup.
