Those Ultra streams are always great. Yesterday I watched CHUBOW (a counterstopper) stream an every extend clear and it was awesome.

Re: Live streams ~

Post by Matskat »

I have one of my cabinets rigged up with an internet connected MAME pc.

It pretty much runs all the time, so I'm considering trying to livestream my desktop, which is a customized frontend with attract screens of games running constantly.

My idea is to stream at night, when I'm actually playing. I guess my attract screens might be cool to watch.....hmmmmm
I'm currently playing trap15's Ketsui arrange mode, and also working on an espgaluda 1CC. Between playing those games A LOT, I'm also playing a lot of trap's Dodonpachi arrange and a LOT of Gryzor's indie shooters. A little DOJ....some Garegga....

Here is a video I made to show off the frontend, but it'll give an idea of what will happen between games...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4bo6jLyDuE

Would anyone watch this? Should I talk while I play and stream the audio. I'll die. A lot. :p

I'd maybe watch it, if I were to stumble on such a stream.

Anywhooooo, if anyone is interested let's hear it...I'm going to test it out tonight using Livestream's free software called Procaster.

Any experiences with Procaster? Should I try something else?

Here's the PC's specs:

Sega Aero City Enclosure
Arcade VGA Radeon job...512 vram
AMD Athlon x64 2 x 2.2GHz
4GB ram

My network connection is midrange DSL...say 5 meg.

Just feeing it out here, guys....whaddya think?

I'd watch it (the livestream), but your upstream speed is probably not 5Mbps. If it's DSL, you're probably topped out at about 800 Kbps, but I think that would probably be fine as long as you're not trying to push 720P or something.

Fucked with settings...lets try this again.

I'm going to avoid watching it myself as it will probably hog bandwidth...

Alright!

I got sound working :)

This is a trip. We could livestream our Shmupmeets straight from the cabinets!

Picture quality could be better, but my bandwidth is shit. So it's a balance between audio and video quality.

I'll keep tweaking it.

I guess I'll be streaming at night when I play...Stay tuned!

hi Ive tried streaming through justin tv and ustream and either I have bad framerate or cant catch the screen I want etc...
I have a laptop and a good connection (download at 1.4mb) but it seems either my laptop isnt powerfull enough or I have 2 left hands.
I used vhscrap to simulate webcam if I understood it well.

Anyway can anyone give me a basic lesson on how to stream with free ustream justintv accounts?
Ive watched tutorials on youtube and read stuffs but Im too bad at computers :D

ps:my comp play sc2 finely to give an idea.

What's the system specs. on your laptop? Typically you want either a quad or dual core processor, audio card, plus a good video card that can handle both a computer game and livestream. Also, make sure you have Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder if you're streaming from a webcam simulator recorder. It allows the video and audio go directly to your livestream feed when recording live.

More information on setting up can be viewed here. General system requirements can be viewed here.

Also, your download speed is irrelevant. It's your upstream connection that matters.

Most home connections are < 1Mb/s, some not even half of that.

I started streaming on Twitch.tv, but I haven't really gotten the hang of it yet. I'd link one of my recorded streams but my voice is terrible.

thx I think my laptop isnt good enough for mame but I managed to get perfect quality for nestopia.
I got a i5-2450m with radeon HD 7470M 1gb ram.
cant get the sound to work I think I dont have the option in sound settings.
on mame I got bad frame rate and have to skip frames to play.
anyway its pretty cool thx .

edit:got mame working by setting high priority.
I still cant get the mame screen when the screen shift to the game it stays on desktop and game is not captured.
tried multiple tracking options in vhscap but nothing worked.

You'd probably have to set the Videomode option in MAME to "GDI" or "DirectDraw", I wouldn't think "Direct3D" would work with most screen recording software?

IMHO DirectDraw is better for MAME almost ALWAYS. I find that DirectDraw provide the best image and keeps things as native as possible.

I spent quite a bit of time trying to sort this out as best as possible when I did my 24H1CC marathon, I found that console streaming was much easier than doing mame streaming, this is because mame and the capturing program is running on the same machine, so it slows down or degrades quality.

Yeah you'd really need 2 PCs to do it properly -- the cool thing with MAME is, if you have a video adapter with dual outputs, you can tell it to mirror the output to both displays, and the second "display" could really just be the VGA/composite/s-video output (depending on your adapter) to a capture device on the 2nd machine. So you'd have one primary "live" display for playing on, and the secondary output goes to the capture device for streaming.

And the second output can be of lower resolution, which reduces the CPU requirements of the machine actually streaming.

There's 4 for Xbox360 mode, none on Arcade at all though. zilcaX is 24th (straight under our very own CRI).

Well, got everything set up properly so I can now record and stream directly from the PCB with all my boards, did a craptacular run of Raiden DX (well, I suppose not entirely, I did cap off the stream with a 1CC of the training stage): http://www.twitch.tv/drunkninja/b/317911672

Normal channel address is http://www.twitch.tv/drunkninja/

No real set schedule, but I'll probably be switching between Raiden DX and Viper Phase 1 for a while.
