XRGB-2 help.

Post by Beaps »

Hi all,

I was hoping someone maybe able to help me out.

I am trying to play Snow Bros pcb through my xrgb-2 & all I getting is sound. I am using a supergun & the board works when the scart is in the back of my LCD but the pic is really grainy.

Other pcb's play fine through this setup just Snow bros & another pcb don't

Any ideas?

Snow Bros is running at a non-standard refresh rate of 57.5 Hz. The XRGB-2 just doubles the resolution, but retains the original refresh rate. Obviously the VGA input on your LCD can't handle anything that far from the standard-60Hz timings.

Youi're lucky that your TV's scart input handles it, most TVs don't either.

There are some processors (incl. the CGA2VGA) which simply convert to 59.94Hz, so - quality aside - that would solve your problem. Doesn't the CGA2VGA even accept 31khz VGA ? Would be worth to try chaining the XRGB (for quality) and the 8220 (for framemerate conversion).
