Though it never was my fav at the time(I preferred Truxton it's obvious influence)...it was still a very good game on the amiga back in the day(though I'm sure Euroshmup hate won't allow yaw to enjoy it.) I always liked the cloaking effect in the original. Also having in the last few minutes revisited it on Youtube...the genesis/mega drive version seems to have been a better version of it game play wise(took a hit in the color department though.)

I might try this new one out if it makes it to the kindle fire by some miracle.

Kind of like how the majority of shooting game fans here (and elsewhere) are going to ignore this game.

You can't call a game "World's best retro shooter" on Shmups forum without knowingly trolling for some strong reactions...I think Bee Cool's reaction is more a knee-jerk response to how this game is being presented here. Right, no, but hey that's instant karma for ya.

But anyway, I will look this up...but not for new systems. (that's 'cuz my mobile phone is ancient and wouldn't be able to handle it, even if I could turn it sideways or whatever this game asks for ) It would have been nice to have the actual NAME of the game up front, but - like I said about the trolling for reactions with the thread title.

I would like to see a detailed comparative evaluation of all retro shooters in the world before I make a purchase. If I agree that the conclusion supports your claim I will buy the game but I don't want to risk being disappointed by something that's not what I have been led to expect.

24 different weapons (4 types of 6 grades each) + Nova Missile

So... 4 shot types you can get upgrades for and a screen clear bomb. That's rather a lot less than 24 weapons, and claiming 24 weapons seems a bit weasely. I mean, noone here would say DoDonpachi has dozens of 'different' weapons just because each of the three ship's weapons get upgrades as well as slight variations depending on going Shot or Laser type, especially when you're aiming to spend the majority of the game at maxed out shot power presumably.

"Bosses"? Are they or aren't they bosses? Putting them in quotation marks makes it seem like they're sort of, but not really bosses.

I'm surprised you'd just copy and paste your generic press release here, especially on a forum dedicated to shmups where you could have emphasized gameplay aspects like how many unique enemy patterns there are on increasing difficulties or something, or discussing the scoring system for those who haven't played it before, dropping a hint of there maybe being a TLB, etc.

There is a touchmark (button) for releasing the Nova bomb, therefore no need for spinning or similar this time

Back in the day when I still had amiga, and very limited access to coin-op shooters, and no access to PC-engine at all, and didnt yet have megadrive or snes, I truly did think that this was the best shooter available at the time.

Playability and production values were quite a bit better than what was available for home computer market at the time.
