Joystick Cases

Post by shmuppyLove »

Is there somewhere that makes decently priced blank cases for joysticks?

I've seen wood ones for around $50-60, but honestly I'd be much more interested in a mass-produced plastic one for like $20-30. No parts needed, just a blank with 6-8 button layout, metal bottom, and a couple holes on top or sides for 18 or 24mm buttons.

I think the closest thing I've found was the Paewang Revolution cases, which I believe Laugh sells (eTokki.com) because he pulls the PCBs out of them for separate sale.

You'll probably need to look into a generic plastic enclosure and cutting the holes yourself, unless you can find a used / broken SE stick for sale somewhere.

Hit up some of the modders on SRK (Tech Talk Forum). They buy stacks of Mad Catz WWE All STARS BrawlSticks just for the PCB, so they probably have cases running out their ears. I would Ask Gummo, in particular.

Yeah that's doable. Finding one that's an appropriate size and shape is not going to be easy though.

I browsed through Digi-Key's catalog and this is probably the most appropriate one I can find:

Nice that the side panels are separate pieces, would make it very easy to add cutouts for buttons or connectors.

Hrmm ... $26.50 eh ...

Yeah that PT-10 could work very nicely, it looks very slick as a joystick!

Alright Gummo is hooking me up with a BrawlStick blank, for the perfect price too.

Thanks for the referral!
