Problem with the XSYNC1 and Sync Booster.

Post by Rock Man »

My chum is having trouble getting his XSYNC1 to work with the XRGB-2 Plus and the Frame Meister.

Now I have no idea about this situation but I'm told he needs a Japanese 21-Pin to 8-DIN Pin connector before he can use it? Moreover his Sync Booster is giving him a bad signal, although he's only tried it on his Composite Sync (CSYNC) leads, I don't think he's tried it on his regular SCART RGB (C-VIDEO) cables but shouldn't the Sync Booster work regardless?

The sync booster I sell on eBay should work with everything listed in the listing, others here have it working but I'm about to sell one with more compatibility too.

If there is a bad signal on anything please tell him to contact me on eBay with exactly what consoles/cables he is using because I will be happy to sort it out.

No clue on xsync1, don't have one.

Upon talking to him I discovered he bought the sync booster from you. He said he would message you on the subject. Hoping you can provide him some answers. Most of the cables he's tried are from you. Think I'll look-up your sync booster myself on Ebay to view it's compatibility. I wonder if the system he used was ineffective.

What kind of troubles does he have in the first place ? Or in other words, why is he trying to use sync processors on his setup ?

My MegaDrive is the only system in which I use a sync stripper, but that's due to my particular model and could have solved without a LM1881 just as fine.

The XSync does not come with output cables. It does have a Din8 socket for RGB output with C-Sync. And while it does look like the MD/Gen's output, it has a different pinout. If you want to connect the XSync to the Mini, you can either use a Din8 to JP21 cable (remember that Din8 to JP21 is different from JP21 to Din8) or - even better, since you have get a custom cable made anyway - use a Din8 to MiniDin8 cable to directly connect the XSync to the Mini without the need to use another adapter cable.

Here's what I built to connect a XSYNC-1 to a XRGB-mini. I only use the XSYNC-1 for testing purposes, so this cable is for sale if you're interested.
