Yeah, most of the chiptunes are shamelessly lifted from various sources... of course many of them are from various Sonic games, but you've also got chiptune versions of Michael Jackson, other games, etc..

I don't think the author is really hiding it or claiming that the music is his, nor is this a commercial product, so I don't think it's really that big a deal.
