Mushihime-sama/ESPgaluda Xbox 360 VS PS2
Mushihime-sama/ESPgaluda Xbox 360 VS PS2
Hello, just a quick question. I own Mushihime-sama Futari and ESPgaluda on the Xbox 360. I recently got a Japanese PS2 and was wondering if it was worth importing the prequels (I think). Are they different enough or better/worse? Thanks for your time.
Re: Mushihime-sama/ESPgaluda Xbox 360 VS PS2
The original EspGaluda port is fantastic and has an awesome arrange mode.
DO NOT import the overpriced Mushi port on the PS2. It's a horrible port, and an HD port was just announced for the Xbox 360 as well and includes the Matsuri 1.5 version I believe.
Not sure about region locking though.

Cool man thanks for the reply.
Re: Mushihime-sama/ESPgaluda Xbox 360 VS PS2
It really depends on whether or not you want the bespoke Mushi arrange mode that comes on the disc. As Vyxx mentioned, it's not the greatest arcade port (but far from horrible, I think that's an honor that goes to Ibara) but the arrange mode is fantastic fun.
If arrange doesn't interest you, however, the 360 one will be the way to go unless Cave totally fark it up somehow.

I have the PS2 port of Mushihimesama, and it's not bad at all. The arrange mode is really good too.
According to Play-asia, the xbox 360 HD port will be region locked.

Hmm, is your Xbox 360 a Japanese one like your PS2?
Also, for anyone that knows, is the Matsuri 1.5 version on disc for both versions? Or is it DLC or something?

Isn't that same arrange on the 360 port?Skykid wrote:It really depends on whether or not you want the bespoke Mushi arrange mode that comes on the disc. Matsuri comes with 1st print and LE as dlc.

Nah my 360 is not Japanese so I can only play the region free games.Vyxx wrote:Hmm, is your Xbox 360 a Japanese one like your PS2?

Is Ibara that bad of a port? I read that it wasn't great but I have Battle Garegga and Pink Sweets, love those games so I had to pick up Ibara too lol.Skykid wrote:It really depends on whether or not you want the bespoke Mushi arrange mode that comes on the disc. I've heard many people complain about the visuals but I think the biggest problem is that there is absolutely NO slowdown, like there is on the PCB, and with Ibara, you need all the help you can get.SePh1r0tH wrote:Is Ibara that bad of a port? Like Vyxx said, the game is missing ALL slowdown. Plus, the game is pretty dang expensive.
Its kinda like an Ibara sampler. You get a slowdown-less port of arcade, and an arrange that seems to be halfway between arcade and Ibara Kuro.
I would say just keep playing Pink Sweets and Battle Garegga. Those ports are great, and those games should last you a long time.
Of course, if you do want to try it out, there is nothing to lose. The game holds value pretty well.

Get Galuda & DOJ. Both of those ports are excellent on all levels.
Mushi & Ibara are really up to you. I've played and enjoyed both. Mushi was the game that really got me into CAVE shmups, so it's deff playable. They don't look the best, but it doesn't take away from the fun.
You probably won't play Ibara seriously, so if you just want it for fun, it succeeds and has an awesome arrange mode. If you want to play the game seriously, I would suggest finding other means of playing it.

when i was wondering whether or not to buy mushi, I had people tell me it was horrendous. I bought and loved it! especially after the 240p patch.
as far is it being overpriced, its probably worth ~$70 used and the standard Mushi HD is $85 new.
personally, i think they're both overpriced =P

I really don't see why people hate on the PS2 ports of Mushi1 and Ibara so much.
The GFX don't look that bad to me, lack of slowdown is important but ACR still did a huge score on Ibara with the port.
Obviously a proper PCB is going to look 110% better but it's hardly bad enough to say don't play the ports.
Maybe it's because I've never played the PCBs so I don't know what I'm missing?

Galuda on PS2 is the bomb. Believe it or not, Arrange mode is a masterpiece.

The ESPGaluda port is great.
As for the game itself, as compared to the new one....I definitely like the new one better. However, the old on is good too, and it's easier. There's a write up here, that shows the differences and similarities between the two.

Espgaluda is easier, but that Arrange mode is pretty damn hard!

Yeah, the arrange mode is tough. I actually wish it had an easier version of it on there. It's good, but a bit too hardcore for myself.

Espgaluda might be the best port but it's not (even nearly) the best game compared to Mushi

Isn't the Arrange mode on Mushi HD the same one as was on PS2?
And I third that Espgaluda arrange was awesome but just too damned hard for me.
