You should, that's what Strategy is there for. ^_-
Spot-on, and if people are actually afraid to post in Strategy, I'd like that to end. There will always be someone to answer strategy questions, no matter how inane or insignificant they may seem to be. The more questions the better, keep 'em comin'.

Any questions or concerns about why there will always be someone to answer strategy questions, no matter how stupid or annoying they may seem to be, can be addressed with the following form:

Yeah I'd like to apologize for the 3 or so topics I created in Shmups Chat (including a fairly recent Espgaluda II one  ) that would've gone to much better use elsewhere and really shouldn't have been topics in the first place.

I won't do it again.

I went diarrhea out of guilt.

I've seen people on other forums say they're afraid to post here, because they think we're all PCB-owning elitists who'll cuss them out if they admit to continuing in a shmup even once.

I think that a lot of people on these boards have a massive stick up their ass that prevents them from responding to posts like they'd respond to an actual human being. I'm not afraid to post, because I understand that what I have to ask is more important to me than what these very vocal dumbasses have to say. A lot of insight can be gleaned if you just ignore disrespectful users.

I don't see how you could be afraid to post here.
If all you get is shit and ridicule for a simple question then the people you were asking were unfit to answer in the first place.
And who is afraid of an unfit loser?

Just be sure to use the search function first, otherwise you are likely to get reamed.

I must say when I first started coming here in 07 I was a bit overwhelmed by the lexicon of the boards. Until I found the glossary.
But yeah, search first ask second, sorry for any elitism that may go on here.
I mostly don't post often anywhere because I am very self conscious about my english even though it is my first language.

Errm, If I had found this forum back in 2008 when I first started I no doubt would have started one of those "what shmups should I play thread" but as it was I just picked ones that looked interesting from the doujinsoft game list.

This place is MUCH, MUCH better than Shoryuken for this stuff, over there if you can't 1 frame link and plink everything you're a scrub who needs to quit forever.

But yes, I would have been scared to ask questions like "when should I bomb?" or "what do I change in options to see the hitbox in dodonpachi" for fear of getting cussed out.

And yeah, sometimes... i've been on that situation on this forum, though i'm not the type to ask too much. Anyway, when I've actually asked about something people answer on a 50/50 ratio but it becomes a 100% ratio when you actually create a thread for what you are asking...

I don't post too much as quite frankly, some of the stuff you guys talk about goes way over my head. I'm not afraid to ask questions or post though.

My skills are pretty bad compared to others but I don't mind that as I play for the pure enjoyment of a good STG. It's just more satisfying if I get good at a game and if that involves asking a question that to some is pretty dumb regarding strategy, that's fine by me.

As with all forum's there is the odd dick but you quickly ignore their opinions and learn those of others and as Never_Scrurred says, he'll put the dicks squarely in their place.

I like it here.

I remember when this ideal was a lot more common than it used to be. I don't think it's actually the case now though for sure. In fact probably the only section of this forum that's anywhere near close to that is Development where poor games will get ripped to pieces. Even Development has been a lot more healthy as of late with great stuff coming out of there (TF4R and Lunacy Star Second come to mind) and great feedback (actual helpful advice) in general.

I haven't seen anyone go on about how great cave pcb boxes are recently either.

Strategy should be the least intimidating section, I'd have thought. It's one of the more bullshit-free places. I've never seen anybody jump down someone's throat for asking a question there, "stupid" or otherwise. People there are generally massively helpful, particularly when dealing with someone new who's just trying to get their head around a game's basic scoring mechanics, etc. There's no pressure to sound like you know exactly what you're talking about.

Post whatever and wherever you like, though. Fuck 'em. ;)
