Retro awesomeness is right here!!!

Image

trap15's Caravan games thread is right here if you are posting a score for Caravan modes.

Rules:
- Default settings. No easy mode. Star Soldier PSP players, life stock at 3.
- Autofire is allowed.
- Mention which port you are using.
- New rule: Scores are now capped at 10 entries due to the limit of this post. If you got kicked out of the scoreboard, please do your best to update your score better than your previous one.

Notes:
- 'New Mode' for Star Soldier (NES/Famicom) is only unlocked after completing the game.
- Star Soldier (PSP) 'Boss Rush' is unlocked after completing the game.
- Star Soldier (PSP) secret character 'Quantum' is unlocked by pacifying stage 8 boss.
- Star Soldier (NES/Famicom) is also found in the Caravan Shooting Collection for the SFC/SNES. The game is also on the GBA and the Wii VC.

Tips and tricks for the Soldier series:
GD: Hudson selection vol.2: Star soldier (PS2/GC) by Kaiser
GD: NES Star Soldier: Bonus Points, Warp & Laser Weapon by SAM
Star Soldier PSP unlockables by TripleA

So without further details, here's the format:
A new submission format is updated to fit the new BBCode table.

Code:
GAME - MODE* - DIFFICULTY** - PORT
Name & Score & Stage & Autofire (YES/NO) & Additional Info***

* There are different modes for the NES, PS2/GC & PSP respectively.
** Difficulty selection applies to the PC Engine Soldier series, PS2/GC & PSP games respectively.
*** Weapon Info for Final Soldier, Character / Ship Type for Star Parodier. SS PS2/GC & PSP games.

UPDATE (4/2/2014):
trap15 is now the new owner for the caravan shmup links. The link for that thread is updated as well.

And the tables:

Well, everything is nice and neat! :) Will sort everything including scores once I come back from school. Also, Star Soldier (NES) players, please mention the ports you are using in case you are still active in this forum.

I just tried Soldier Blade on hard. Dying on a boss without making use of one`s "bombs" first is very bad.

Star Parodier
CSF - Normal -ALL - 11,516,460

Spent a couple hours checkpoint milking stage 7, hoping it would counterstop. I was let down. I could have kept going for the 100 mil but that probably would have taken a full 18 hours of milking. :|

No autofire. I noticed the option when double checking my score, but I don't see any difference with it on or off.

Edit: should mention, played using ootake.

Died a whole bunch on Stage 6 due to a horrible clusterfuck, recovered and beat the game. Yellow flame or Green lightning + homing is fantastic for eating up bosses, particularly thanks to their piercing effect. Several failed runs due to having to learn how to dodge the green mech's mini ships and the final boss. First time I got to the final boss I managed to get it to its final form, where it ate up my remaining lives (I had died once to the lightning attack before, so I was severely underpowered). Fun game, but there's a huge disparity between being at max power with a full shield + missiles and when you respawn from a death, where you're left with almost no firepower, though it's balanced by the shield being fairly easy to refill, and being able to take 3 hits when at full and still survive. Game's pretty easy except for a few steep difficulty spikes here 'n there.

I couldn't agree more. The game gets really harder when you progress in the later stages. When I first encounter the stage 6 boss, I had a hard time beating him because of the rolling shield protecting him. Even that boss and the final boss' final form is very insane on the hardest difficulty.

Star Soldier (NES/Famicom) New Mode - it's Hard Mode? Can be accessible only in Famicom version with microphone on second gamepad?
Anyway, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIcwWBzbbzM
575,600 points, all 16 stages completed. But I played for survival, not for score. I can try to score as much points as I can in normal mode.

Something from me today!! :D

Final Soldier - Normal - PC Engine
tinotormed - 3,916,100 - ALL (NO MISS!) - Short/Wiper/Flare/Front - Y

Image

Autofire or not, the 'L' and 'E' weapons deal bigger damage on it's default weapon, whereas 'F' sucked so I had st set it up into flare. I also chose M for front as to kill the stage 1 boss slowly to milk out the incoming destructible projectiles up to 700k. For the last boss, the 'E' in full or 2nd level power deals so much damage against it, but you have to bomb regularly (while setting your ship speed to fast) in order to avoid being cornered by the boss. Therefore, the game on Normal is do-able without dying.

EDIT: new score! (9/18/2013)

Soldier Blade - Normal - PC Engine
tinotormed - 2,047,700 - ALL (NO MISS!) - Y

Image

The Blue Laser and Red Vulcan deal so much damage even at close range that they are very much powerful while the Green Wave is only good for dealing damage on huge crowds or many larger enemies. Most of the bombs deal greater damage though, with the sacrifice of your blue robot buddy however unless you get another powerup. Got onto a close call on the final boss when the moment I am about to clear the game without dying, but the bombing function nevertheless saved me. Stage 1 boss can be milked by destroying those orange rings and those purple popcorn coming out before he performs a front part ram (or the charge blast when it is destroyed) while destroying it slowly. On stage 2 midboss, one slave destroyed gives it 800 points. On stage 6, you can get hit by the pink bullet which drags you into a dimensional rift where many enemies would come out and be destroyed for score (just don't get hit though, as the powerups would only appear once on that dimension.) On those brown robots on stages 1, 2 and 7 in which they dash after you, don't shoot until the moment they come closer to you for 10k points.

Btw, CIT, how did you manage to score that high? :o
