Naomi GDRom Error 24
Naomi GDRom Error 24
I recently sold a working Naomi GDRom setup on another forum. It worked great for me with my Monkey Ball setup. I never had any issues with it. The buyer purchased a Capcom Vs. SNK 2 setup and has stated that when he tries to load it he is getting an Error 24. The manual says that this error is referring to not being able to find the GDRom disc. The fixes include removing and reloading the GDRom disc and checking the disc for scratches. I've done a little research to try to help figure out what might be going on but the only thing I'm seeing is that in a couple instances the discs had light scratches but after they were "repaired" (cleaned and/or buffed) they worked fine. In one situation the guy swapped out GDRom drives because he got this error and the game (CvS2, coincidentally) worked fine in the other drive. But when he tried a different game in that new drive he got the Error 24 and swapped back to the first GDRom drive and it worked fine in there. I know almost nothing about the Naomi setup and the only game I had for it, Monkey Ball, worked perfectly. The GDRom drive had a new laser installed (was done shortly before I purchased the drive) and tested fine by the guy who installed it, and obviously by me too. So there has to be some explanation for what's going on. Can anyone help figure out what might be happening and how he (the buyer) might be able to fix the error?

Did you sell this to guy on KLOV?
Re: Naomi GDRom Error 24
Yeah, it went to a guy on KLOV. Worked perfectly when I tested it before packing it up to ship but for some reason it doesn't want to work with his CvS2 disc that he purchased.
Re: Naomi GDRom Error 24
I bet the potentiometer on the laser got tweaked during shipping. This happens ALL THE TIME on disc based systems.
The people talking about discs working on certain roms and not others is just further evidence that this is a laser issue.
