Well this sucks. I guess Nintendo's going back to the rules of the NES era. I don't really see the subject matter/humour in Isaac as being any worse than Conker or the Earthbound Fetus.

No, it's definitely worse - but it's not the 80s any more and this is bullshit. Have they tried putting Isaac on any other system?

Never underestimate the wrath and influence of religios nutbags. My Vita comment was more of a joke; at least releasing it in the USA could produce an unwanted shitstorm (in Europe people would probably laugh about it).

Serves 'em right for making a shitty pew-pew arena shooter with tasteless Newgrounds graphics.

I wanted to like it - it had some great ideas and I appreciate the mix of Robotron, loot whore dungeon crawl and OG Zelda - but it ran like absolute crap on my fairly decent PC and it's a Flash game.

That's kind of how it's supposed to run :/ I felt that the gameplay was pretty terrible too (like "I want to make an arena shooter but I've never played one before"). Either you'll like it for its art-experiment aspect or not. Aside from that, I'm not sure what's good about it.

It wants to be like 4 different games at once, and the result is just a mess, mostly because the game's designer has no clue how to combine it all effectively.

That and the art style is awful.
