Hello everyone...

Post by TWITCHDOCTOR »

How's it going?
Just as of late, I've been playing an old fave on my Sega Saturn...Strikers 1945. Yea...my old fave.
Its a cool shmup, and I consider it to be one of the "pioneer shmups" ; that is to say something to what led to the here and now. Which is crazy!!!

I've been gaming somewhat, but my love of RC aviation has been predominant as of late.
Yea, I'm all about the heli's n' planes.
My top three faves are the E-Flight Blade 120SR, T-28 Trojan and the P-51 Mustang.
I try to go out flying every weekend!

I'm still a game player, just not a TATE Nazi like I used to be.

How's everyone doing? Glad to see some of the old folks still here hehe.

How's my old friend Malc?!

Hey, Twitch. Glad to see another person lurking around who was around in the early days of Shmups. Was wondering what you'd been up to. Shoot me a private message with your e-mail address, and we'll catch up.

Hah so I'm not alone! I just got back into rc aviation after a year or so hiatus.

I have a Multiplex Mini Mag, Typhoon 2, Blade 400, and have recently picked up a Blade mCPx, UMX Extra 300, and am in the process of building a Fancy Foam EPP 3Decathlon. Very seriously considering picking up a Trex 550EFL for this coming season as well.

Yep, ol' PCE-FX!'s still around these parts on the Shmups.org forum. Good to hear from you again, ol' buddy.

Have you heard about the new 1/9th scale RC car, XO-1, that supposed to go 100mph or more out of the box? Yeah, R/C manufacturer Traxxas is gearing up production to sell it in the USA. Just insane reaching those speeds with what's possible with R/C cars nowdays.

Yea...I've always had the interest in rc aviation. In fact, since childhood. I had a couple of airplanes (nitro/gas) powered in my late teens/early twenties. I had dropped out of it due to finances.
Well, nowadays rc thingies are less expensive. Plus, gyros are a great addition to the hobby!!!

The Chevelle Hotrod was mentioned...Yea, still have it. Although, unfortunately its out of commision once again. The 450HP block decided to throw a couple of main bearings. Causing a roughed up crank, as well as 2 connecting rods.
I do have a big block 454, but it needs a rebuild/overhaul.
I'm hoping by within this year to have it up and running once again.

To keep things on topic here...As I stated earlier, I've been playing my old favorite, Strikers 1945 with an old TV in TATE mode.
I believe it to be perfectly balanced. If you want a easier boss fight; Well, easy does not apply to this game!! Keep powerups to a minimum of only 2. Grabbing powerups is cool, but when fully powered up, the bosses get real crazy on you.

If I owned an XBOX360, I would buy Dodonpachi Resurection, and DeathSmiles. I just found out about these games a few days ago.

The last "shooting game" that I purchased was Nano Assault for the Nintendo 3ds. It kinda reminds me of that older PS1 game NanoTech Warrior. I'm not sure if they are related, but they have some similar gameplay mechanics.

I haven't been busy with Vodkatron. I would LOVE to collaborate some more with Nate and company, just been really busy with other things.
Nathans involved with a live clubbing band at the moment anyway...so he's been busy as well.

Its been real nice talking to you guys once again...I'm sure that there a numerous new members here, and thats a good thing.

If anyone wants to start an off topic thread with me, I will try and check back in to discuss whatever.
Gotta go for now.

Later.

By the way...
If anyone here wants to hear some of the best of Vodkatron, I have uploaded some songs onto youtube!
Please feel free to give it a listen.
You can find our songs by performing a search for "Vodkatron 361" at the youtube website.
When I hear "Scenes of Painted Sorrow", it gives me chills. By far my very best effort!!!

Nathan Mclain...Song structure, and rhythm
James Arriyaga... Productions, and recording. As well, as digital percussion.
Graig Mconagill? (spelling) keyboards.
Pete ?... Live drums at 4:00 in the morning. (My inspiration for the song "Scenes...")
John M Collins, aka Twitchdoctor... lead guitar.

Also, big thanks to Meteor Blaster DX, (Turbo Grafx CD) for showcasing some of our tunes!!!
BT Garner and company.

Late notice, but I just had to say, since it was on topic.

Hey, buddy!

I'm still here; haven't had a lot of time to "play" anything though - except Dariusburst...which is more than adequate.

Those Vodkatron vids are cool; that takes me back to a time in my life that was both highly stressful and blissfully drunk :P

How's Oscar? I still need to get out there to visit one of these Saturdays to visit...and, get my copy of Trizeal back.

Don't we do "this" like once every four years?

Trizeal is totally safe. I actually forgot the name of it!!! I thought about sending it back to you, its just that you moved once again, and I don't think I have the correct address any more.
Also, I no longer have long distance as you may know...no cell phone either. Ahh, I'm old school!!!lol

The Vodkatron songs might be old news to some, but when I was around here last, there was no way for anyone to hear them online. And with new members, I figured that we could feel the glory once again, even if for a little while.

Take it easy Hobo! :D

Hope to hear from you soon!

sending it back
Don't do that - I'll go out there someday (soon). Real life is starting to "smooth-out" finally so I'll make it a point to try and get out there around mid-March cause I have a HOBO gig every damn weekend until then!

We got some catchin' up to do for sure.

You're going to LOVE Dariusburst; tons of "unlockable" stuff...and, I suggest a good set of headphones for that one.

The "burst" system is a little tricky at first - keep in mind that it works two ways...you'll see.

Hi TWITCH,

Good to see you check in again. Hope you've still got the Chevelle...? Still got my V8.
I discovered this forum late - 2003. Due to not being on the internet at all before that.
Just arcades throughout ('82 onwards).

Twitch!

I haven't been playing much shmups either, heh. Some video games here and there, but mostly electronics side-projects as of late. I do have a kid on the way! Super pumped about being a dad!
