3D Shmups!!

No, im not talking about trying to achieve the impossible.
I am infact talking about our beloved 2D shmups played on a 3D TV! I recently purchased this screen---->http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-DM2780D-inch ... 17&sr=8-10
It has a 2D to 3D function which i had practically dismissed as a total gimick. However I just got the notion, I wonder if a shmup would work with that function? So i gave it a whirl and not only did it work, but it works amazingly well! I then tried a few other shmups on the 360 and it compelled me to share my experience and comes highly recommended!
Things like score bars, multiplier counters and bullets pop out in the foreground while backgrounds are just that, in the background. Trees in deathsmiles appear round, canyons in dodonpachi feel like sheer drops below you. Its like that mode was literally devised for shmups
So this is just basically a heads up to anyone thinking of buying a HD screen for the bedroom or PC. For 280 quid this thing is loaded with features and i am simply amazed at the picture/3d quality.
By the way i am aware that alot of ppl on here will be offended b the idea of playing shmups on hd screens. I use a CRT myself but i just wanted to share this.

Super stardust HD has built-in 3D mode, you should try it out if you have PS3

By the way i am aware that alot of ppl on here will be offended b the idea of playing shmups on hd screens. I use a CRT myself but i just wanted to share this.

Yep, that 360 indie game known as 3D Infinity, looks awesome on a low-res arcade monitor setup using the old-school stereoscopic presentation (with a pair of red & blue colored 3D glasses). Has a great sense of depth for the background scenery indeed. Those 3D stereoscopic DVDs like Friday the 13th 3-D & Coraline that came with several pairs of 3D glasses for the first print release, those come in quite handy for that purpose alone.

Makes me wonder how good this Sony 24" 3D TV monitor really is (considering that it's on sale this week at Best Buy for $299.99):

Aside from the occassional dead pixels issue or the blinking "Red Light Of Death" issue that some folks have had with this PS 3D LED TV, that seems to plague the 1st-gen production run...it might be better to wait & see what else Sony comes up with. I wouldn't be surprised to see such glasses-free 3D TVs down the road.

Sweet il have to give it a try. That is if xblig is available in the U.K. it wasnt in Ireland :-/ Hopefully it is because then id finally be able to give score rush a try.
If you are even considerering getting a 3D TV then i would sugest you go for it, they really are amazing. Consider the set I posted above. Its bigger and cheaper and it has 2D to 3D which not many sets have. And i can asure you that the 3d image has great depth and is just amazing!!!! Especially with avatar.

Edit- just noticed that was dollars lol. That seems like a pretty sweet deal in that case.
