I'm looking for a transcoder capable of converting RGB to component. I know we've had these for SCART RGB in their various incarnations and model numbers for years now but I am guessing that they do not work with all kinds of RGB? i.e. just the Euro SCART RGB and not SOG? VGA (at various sync rates, resolutions), etc.
I don't necessarily need one with a SCART input such as that either, it just would be nice to have something that transcodes to Y-Pb-Pr from various RGB types and not just the old SCART type in a single unit. Is there any such animal or is everybody mixing and matching various boxes to get the solution they want?
The right transcoder.
Re: The right transcoder.
You're looking for a Kramer FC-14. Best unit available for both 15khz and 31khz sources. You just have to make sure to feed raw sync. If you want to feed RGB with composite sync, you have use a stripper beforehand.
Re: The right transcoder.
Hmm, it won't take composite sync? Or do you mean composite video? Just trying to clarify.
Re: The right transcoder.
sorry, meant composite video (as sync) of course. It's really a great unit. I have one. Runs at about $80-120. They don't show up this often on ebay, but they eventually do from time to time.
