Corstat boxes. With or without foam? Sizing? Silica packs?

Post by NOAH »

So I've been wanting to buy some better storage boxes for my pcb's for quite some time. I think my pcb collection is virtually complete now so I have a good idea of necessary box quantity and I've got a budget for an order so I'm looking to order some pretty soon.

I see that some include a static dissipative urethane foam, I'm just wondering if the foam is dense enough to compress some pcb boards too much. Some caps or other components on a pcb surface can exceed a full inch, do these get smashed down during storage with foam?

Also, how much excess thickness is necessary in the product dimensions vs. the actual thickness of the stored pcb (including protruding components)?

Would these boxes protect pcb's from moisture or would silica packets help?

Should static bags still be used in these boxes?
