is it true that when using the VGA cable with the dreamcast, the output picture is always 4:3 640X480p?
I know ordinarily the output picture is 480i, just trying to clarify if there are any situations where a game outputs 480i over the VGA cable.
furthermore I was wondering if it is correct that all dreamcast games with a widescreen mode are run in 480i, or if some of them can do widescreen in 480p.
I was also curious if a widescreen mode in dreamcast games is always anamorphic (rectangular, stretched pixels) or if there were any widescreen resolutions supported.
Finallly, is there anywhere where I could get a complete list of 240p dreamcast games, and 480p dreamcast games?

Re: Questions about Dreamcast output resolutions
it's actually 720x480p, but to answer your question: yes.is it true that when using the VGA cable with the dreamcast, the output picture is always 4:3 640X480p?
no, games that do not support VGA output, won't output through the VGA box at all (e.g. japanese Bangaioh).I know ordinarily the output picture is 480i, just trying to clarify if there are any situations where a game outputs 480i over the VGA cable.
they have to be anamorphic, since the output resolution is fixed at 720 pixels width.I was also curious if a widescreen mode in dreamcast games is always anamorphic (rectangular, stretched pixels) or if there were any widescreen resolutions supported.
Re: Questions about Dreamcast output resolutions
IIRC it is possible to do 800x608, but I doubt official games supported that mode in any case.

I wish somebody would do some ISO hacks to turn on VGA mode, like how people found a way to mess with the interlacing on Ibara PS2.Fudoh wrote:games that do not support VGA output, won't output through the VGA box at all (e.g. japanese Bangaioh).

It's pretty likely that the only games that would benefit from that are the ones that already work with the switch trick.undamned wrote:I wish somebody would do some ISO hacks to turn on VGA mode, like how people found a way to mess with the interlacing on Ibara PS2.Fudoh wrote:games that do not support VGA output, won't output through the VGA box at all (e.g. japanese Bangaioh).

ud: Someone hacked Gunbird 2 for VGA output; it's glitchy.
