add more Buttons to my Control Panel , X-Acto knife OK ?

hi people , i am looking to add some more Buttons to my Control Panel........

What methods do people use to cut holes into the CP ? , i have a X-Acto knife which i think will do the job check my pic below to see what im up against

For cutting through the overlay, yes. You can practice on something else first by putting scotch tape on a similar hole and cutting that first if cutting your panel without experience feels scary.
