Raiden DX PS1 Difficulty settings questions
Raiden DX PS1 Difficulty settings questions
Couple of questions regarding the PS1 port checking out the difficulties I find that the default setting is Normal but then there is also Arcade, I assume that Arcade is the one which is equalent to the pcb settings?
Does anyone have a save file available with everything unlocked?
Also is there some button combination needed or are the types of bombs you begin with randomised?

Re: Raiden DX PS1 port questions
I thought the bombs you got depended on either:
A) menu settings
B) 1P or 2P ship
C) Game mode
Button combinations might have something to do with it though. If you can't find the option in the menu somewhere I imagine either bomb or fire + something would do it when you start the game proper.

Re: Raiden DX PS1 port questions
Player 2 always gets the spread bombs in Raiden II, but in DX you select your own bomb type.
Select your course when the lightning bolt is red for classic thermonuclear bombs, yellow for spread bombs.

Of course, that's just an opinion.

Re: Raiden DX PS1 port questions
I thought DX's "Arcade" mode was the same as the Arcade PCB, but I've been wrong at least once in this thread so yeah.

Re: Raiden DX PS1 port questions
I asked the same thing a while ago and got a very helpful response from resident Raiden beast saucykobold.Zeron wrote:Bah while I am at it question about Raiden Project Normal is the arcade default equalent?

Oh I see quite interesting what lead Seibu to make this including the NEW DX version anyway?
On a side topic What do you guys think about the PS1 Raiden DX rearrange soundtrack? I don't think it holds up to the arcade original especially when it comes to the boss themes.

Re: Raiden DX PS1 Difficulty settings questions
Lol.
I find it interesting that people especially hate Raiden music. I think Toaplan did some better tunes in the early 90's, but I still quite enjoy Raiden tunes.
I have not played DX, but in Raiden Project I like the arrange tracks for both games. I would choose the original arcade if I had to choose, but I switch between them occassionally.

Re: Raiden DX PS1 port questions
"Arcade" mode on Raiden DX's PS1 version is slightly more difficult than the PCB, due to reason that arcade version runs at different (=lower) framerate.BPzeBanshee wrote:I thought DX's "Arcade" mode was the same as the Arcade PCB, but I've been wrong at least once in this thread so yeah.
It means that all the parameters for bullets are the same as in coinop, but they fly 5% faster which is actually quite a lot. This same effect happens with dodonpachi and R-types PS1 conversions.
You should play on normal first, and the go for "arcade" when you feel more comfortable with the game.

Re: Raiden DX PS1 Difficulty settings questions
It's less people than it appears, and odds are they're either influenced by broken sound emulation in MAME (Raiden Fighters music sounds awful in slow motion) or are Cave fanboys that think everything that's not 21st century Manabu Namiki is complete crap.dunpeal2064 wrote:Lol.

This I did not know! Re: Raiden DX PS1 Difficulty settings questions
Oh yes I have read that Raiden II and DX run in 55.5hz hence its faster because NTSC is 59.6hz
