I really liked the first 2, but I didn't care for the 3rd one. I hated all the Geo Block junk.
Does this one tone down on that? It sure LOOKS better.
Is Disgaea 4 any good?

sorny censored that game for the U.S.
Re: Is Disgaea 4 any good?
I'm pretty sure the Japanese version was censored due to that youth ordinance bill. Do the research.xbl0x180 wrote:sorny censored that game for the U.S.

IIRC the US version was altered further, most notably in limiting the players' options in the map creation mode to avoid obscene/copyright-infringing creations...someone else more in the know would have to elaborate though.

That isn't really censorship though.BulletMagnet wrote:IIRC the US version was altered further, most notably in limiting the players' options in the map creation mode to avoid obscene/copyright-infringing creations...someone else more in the know would have to elaborate though.

Re: Is Disgaea 4 any good?
To answer you question: I've only really finished the story mode in Disgaea 4, but several missions are there to focus on geo block manipulation, more so than any of the previous games. Been too busy to do any post game stuff, but I think it is the most polished Disgaea game in the series. I enjoyed it and I never finished the third one either.evil_ash_xero wrote:I really liked the first 2, but I didn't care for the 3rd one. I hated all the Geo Block junk.

Its the same game, but in hd, and less types of classes.
The game is going to be a dlc frenzy for more classes/characters.
I think Disgaea 1 is still the best in the series.~~~

Espgaluda III needs to happen.

Re: Is Disgaea 4 any good?
That's a shame. I think I'll skip it.
I really liked the first one, and the second one...I think the 2nd one was a better game, but the first one had better characters. And a lot of people gripe about the 2nd one's story, but at least it was different than the other ones(you know, little demon boy..mad at dad..whatever). And it had a really good twist at the end, I thought.
But Nippon Ichi are no wordsmiths.

Re: Is Disgaea 4 any good?
I don't think there's anything all that unreasonable as far as geo blocks go in D4's story mode. It's mostly in Chara World that you'll have to deal with excessive geo blocks. Item world is no worse than D2 as far as geo blocks go.
All in all, I actually liked D4 quite a bit more than D3. I think the map creation stuff is just take-it-or-leave it (I don't really see much point in it myself) but there are little changes that make it a lot easier to power up your characters. The main ones are Enforcer innocents, which can be used to move unsubdued innocents from one item to another, and branching paths in Item World where you can focus an item either on item growth (extra level gains up to a max of 300, higher probability of level spheres and the ability to pass up to 6 bills on an item) or boosting innocents that are subdued within the item (innocents gain more strength when subdued, chance of extra innocents appearing in the item.) The combination of these two make it rather easy to make maxed-out stat boost innocents (gladiators, coaches, etc.) as long as you can maintain a steady supply of enforcers and Gencies to do it (the Enforcers come on symbol type items.) There's also a well known dupe bug out there right now (although it's been patched in the JP version) that could also make things a lot easier if you were inclined to use it, although I'm avoiding it.
