Recently I've noticed that the bullets in these Seibu games are ungodly hard to see in Mame. Harder than the invisi-bullets in Garegga. Is it just me, or are there priority problems in Mame?

It's not a sprite priority problem. The bullets are really colored that way in the RF games. The worst offender are the fast yellow-white bullets which actually become masked in the over-the-top mid-size enemy explosions. Very hard to see them in RFJ's Phase 1.
Well, the tanks appearing over the huts is a sprite priority problem. I misread your post, I think. However, the bullets are really tha had to see in the original games.
Raiden Fighters 2 in MAME has really crappy sound.
from the one i played in mame it seemed like a pretty obvious emulation problem (many of the sprites and the layering was faily messed up). not sure how it is now though.

Damn those bullets. To make matters worse, at the machine where I play RFJ, the screen/colors are all distorted. In 40 the ocean is purple. Phase 1 it is a guessing game.
