Galaga Legions 3DS

Apparently Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions for the 3DS includes a version of Galaga Legions. Has anyone tried it? How are the 3D graphics (if there are any)?

So no one in the shmups universe has played this? Maybe I'll pick up a copy in the weeks to come and learn first hand why no one else is willing to pay for this.

Well, considering that it still has a MSRP of $39.99 USD, I wouldn't mind checking it out if it were a bit cheaper or if it went on sale. I do know that Best Buy does, occasionally, sell first-run 3DS games for $19.99. Just gotta check their Sunday's advertising supplement & see what's the cool 3DS game(s) deal of the week is (if there are any).

Yeah, I wasn't about to pay full price for it. Tonight I found it at Target for $10 off, so I'm about to go check it out!

So far I'm really impressed by this collection. Granted, I'm a pretty casual gamer and haven't spent much time with the game, so I can hardly know whether the collection will stand up to careful scrutiny. In any case some of the things I like so far:
-straightforward explanations of game mechanics make this a nice pick-up-n-play affair
-the controls feel super responsive: I don't think I've ever been happier with pacman controls than with this version of championship edition
-the tilt mechanic is pretty cool in Galaga Dimensions (though this is mainly a matter of novelty-- the game itself doesn't seem especially addictive or interesting)
-Galaga Legions is awesome-- so glad I finally had a chance to play this!
-Galaga Legions and Dimensions both have pretty nice 3D effects, but I admit I'm a sucker for 3D effects (vision science is my passion in life) and not everyone will be as easily impressed

Thanks for the intial impressions, professor ganson. I'll have to check it out as it sound like a cool 3DS game based on the old-school name recognition factor alone.

Just remembered this game exists, was wondering if it's good? Interested in both Galaga Legions which I skipped back on XBLA, but also the new 3D first person Galaga game. Pac-Man stuff is cool too!

Is this the "geometry wars" Galaga game that was on XBLA?

If so, uh, I guess if you wished geometry wars had a Galaga skin it would be up your alley. Personally, I remember playing this a grand total of 25 minutes... Space Invaders Xtreme whipped it's ass.

Damn, I hadn’t realised it was made in the style of Geometry Wars. Was hoping it was something like PAC Man CE which was still true to the roots of arcade Pac-Man.

Just checked out some footage of it on YouTube. Looks like it's the same game as the 360 Galaga Legions. Waves of enemies with SOME multidirectional firing.
