Radiangames Super Crossfire released (iThings, PC/Mac)

Post by Moniker »

Super Crossfire is a followup to Crossfire/Crossfire2 on XBLIG. Recently released for ipod/ipad/etc.

PC/Mac versions apparently on the way. Out of the Radiangames catalogue, Crossfire is probably the most traditional -- being somewhat similar to space invaders extreme. Radiangames, IMO, is some of the best stuff (shooter or no) on XBLIG. I have no iStuff, so I guess I'm waiting on the PC version.

Please radiangames, do not forget Crossfire started on Xbox Live.
Bring it to the 360, please.

I doubt he will; he's made it clear that xblig isn't a viable platform for him, as far as income is concerned. Although he's left the door open for xbla, if and when that's a possibility.

He has. We really should have supported that guy when we had the chance. We coulda nurtured that dude into making some sweet stuff. I think his next game isn't even gonna be in our genre.

Well, if he releases Super Crossfire on Steam he's guaranteed to have an important flow of cash. Hopefully that'll convince him to make more and at least you get more exposure on the Steam storefront compared to all the situations faced on XBLIG. Just ask the Doucette bros. about the infamous rating manipulating, the "XBLIG is hidden!" and other problems.

The best will be to support and buy the iThings stuff and get the PC/Mac ports. Definitely looking forward for the PC one myself.

I'd love to see Ballistic and Joy Joy on Steam what with all the current arenashmup goodness. Mutant Storm Empire and Reloaded are on their way to PC too joining Astro Tripper :D

Well it's never too late for now. His xblig stuff has been bumped to $5 per game, so I imagine that'd be a good way of sending support his way if you don't currently have a platform for Super Crossfire. IMO, everybody in this forum with an xbox should own Crossfire 2 at the very least. And if you're not prejudiced against twin stick games, throw in Ballistic & Fireball as well. Like me, you'll probably end up going in for all of his output, because it's just consistently that good. He may not ever go xblig again, but it might be enough to convince him to quit his day job again.

Check the link in my sig for links to the xbox pages.

And yeah, he should definitely go for a Radiangames bundle on Steam. I'd double dip that in a heartbeat.

radiangames is probably the best xblig shmup developer hands down IMO
all their games are of top notch polish and quality

it's just a shame Super Crossfire will be left out of it due to stupid policies and shit from M$

If I read well, Super Crossfire is technically the re-release of Crossfire 1 & 2 in other platforms. Not sure it would be that worth it for someone who already has the games on XBLIG, unless it's sold super cheap.

However, since I have no Borgbox360 due to the shitty state of my country (nor the original nor the 360 were officially released, so if you get one, it's usually a flashed US model or worse, without guarantees or official service at all), the PC release absolutely made my day along with Waves and a plethora of other shooters also joining the party.

Hi Guys,

I'm not sure the game will make it back onto the 360. It's not impossible, but it'll take a significant amount of work because the game is now in Unity instead of XNA. It's still all C# (more or less), but it'd take 2-3 weeks to port it back over. After the PC/Mac version is out, I'll definitely consider it. I'll also be looking into other platforms (Android, PS3, and OnLive, for instance).

FYI: Super Crossfire is more than just a port of Crossfire 1 and 2. You can read about it's evolution here:

http://radiangames.com/?p=779

I'm glad the iOS version is out and people are really enjoying it. But if you're waiting for the PC/Mac version, you will not be disappointed.

It may sound weird for a shooter, but the mouse is actually the best controller for the game. The slider controls on the iOS version work very well, and so does a controller (or even the keyboard), but the precision and speed of a mouse makes the game even easier (and that helps you enjoy the game more).

I'm curious what you've got in the pipeline after things have settled down w/ S. Crossfire. Anything along the lines of a more traditional shooter (e.g. scrolling)?

Bought it. Bloody good, can't believe this wasn't brought earlier. I agree the mouse is actually the best way to play it. Runs like a charm too. I installed it, clicked play and worked perfectly. I appreciate the variety of resolutions too. Plenty of entertainment overall. Everyone was in for Nuclear Dawn, I'm in for Super Crossfire.

Yeah I wasn't expecting it to run so well on my PC either. My laptop chokes on Scoregasm... :| and most of its ilk. But this is optimized really well. Creamy smooth framerate at all times. My only niggle is that I'd appreciate custom keybinding instead of a couple different schemes.
