Naw, they just suck at making them, much like their target audience sucks at playing them. :V

I just got this press release from Cave (very little on the shooting game, but an overview of their approach to Vita, and confirmation that the shooting game is an original game; presumably that means original IP. I hope so!):

CAVE Interactive

CAVE to Release Games for PlayStation ® Vita

CAVE Interactive Co., Ltd. (Shinjuku, Tokyo JASDAQ Code: 3760) has announced that it will be releasing
games for the PlayStation® Vita, starting with its social game “Shirotsuku” followed by an original shooting
game (title TBA).*

*Localization status of both games is currently to be determined.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Shirotsuku (Title TBA)
“Check in” and “Step Out”! Enjoy your portable game system in a brand new way!
Become a “daimyo” in the Sengoku period of Japanese history and build up your own tiny castle kingdom
in this Sengoku simulation game by CAVE. Use the “check in” feature to pick up souvenirs exclusive to your
geo-location and use them to construct unique buildings from that area. Once your castle town is bustling,
skirmish and try your luck in battle against other users.

■ Check In for Fun!
Use the location registration feature of the Playstation® Vita to pick up souvenirs and buildings exclusive
to your geographic area.

■ Play in Your Free Time: the “Stepping Out System”!
In “Shirotsuku”, you’ll earn coins in-game according to how far you’ve travelled since your last check in.
The cash you earn on your morning commute quickly stacks up! Pick a building and a spot to place. Your
townsfolk will automatically build it, allowing you to enjoy “Shirotsuku” in your spare time, waiting for the
bus, on your lunch break and more.

■ More Fun with Friends!
Show off your castle towns, trade souvenirs, and more! There are plenty of features to enjoy with friends.
Connect to your favorite social network and meet new people to play with.
*Company and product names listed are registered trademarks or trademarks of their respective
companies.

■ Build a Castle Town in the Palm of your Hand!
More than 400 types of buildings and more than 400 samurais! The same great content from Shirotsuku,

Same as Spadgy just posted, here straight from the horse's mouth:

http://caveinteractive.com/news/cave-re ... 2%AE-vita/

Their Facebook updated assured it would be an original game, ie. not a port of an existing title.

Hrm, I've got no plans to buy a Vita, especially at launch price. I just don't find it that interesting. :(

I even found the 3DS a little more appealing, and I don't have one of those.

I've spent a good three or four hours with various Vita games now, and I'm impressed by the device's imputs. The front and back touch screens certainly injected some great ideas into Super Stardust, so there's plenty of hope for this Cave Vita shooter.

Im thinking of finally taking the handheld plunge with the next gen. I was plumbing for the 3DS with its backward compatibility and rail shooters, but if Cave start developing for the Vita im gonna have to rethink my options

I'm not quite sure what you mean Sumez, so I'll clarify what I was on about. Super Stardust Vita had some awesome touches, like being able to 'pinch' asteroids through the device (a finger on the back touch screen and a thumb on the front one) to destroy them. LittleBigPlanet on the Vita made great use of the rear touch 'screen' and super tight tilt sensitivity too. I have faith Cave could do something great with the Vita.

Little bit off topic: anyone interested in this Shirotsuku game, there's a video on Youtube. Reminds me of some of the free to play games online that has similar game mechanics.

I'm surprise Sony is allowing them to create a shmup for the Vita. Can't wait for more details on this new shmup.

Pessimistic any? What does this have to do with any of the stuff Cave does which people on here generally like? Not much.
If they feel like branching out to other platforms so what? The company is growing and if they get more customers (more money) this way, why not? I could not care less if they make weird adventure games and social/casual game stuff as long as they keep making shmups, which I am sure they will.

And it's not like the shmup division is getting bogged down working on this other stuff as I understand it, they got other teams.

Plus there are enough good Cave shmups atm to plow through to last a long long time.

I dont think people feel like being forced to own 3 platforms to play CAVEs games nevertheless play them on a bloody handheld.

Forced? Who forces you? Your compulsion to own every Cave game?
Some people enjoy handhelds, some people enjoy to buy PCBs. Cave wants to cater to a broader audience. That's all.
No one is forcing you to do anything.

Possibly, but we're yet to find out if we can use erect penises on the underside touchpad of the Vita to manipulate our lolis.

Could be win.

Come on, think of the possibilities! :)

That's three appendages interacting with the game simultaneously. You could have special challenges like mustering a boner on cue, or a ball slap bomb!

Well that Ridge Racer trailer immediately sold me a Vita, so I guess this is interesting news :P

Has there been any word on whether the Vita is region locked?
