There was a vertical scrolling arcade shooter which I really loved in the 1990s but I forgot its name. Maybe someone knows it?
This is what I remember fro the game:
- By picking up upgrade spheres, the spaceship "grows" and the weapon system changes (for the better).
- There are about 10-15 growth-levels for the ship and you start at level 2.
- When you get hit by an enemy projectile, the ship "shrinks" to level 1 and the next hit kills you.
- The sub-weapon is bombs for ground units. It cannot be upgraded.
- The boss of stage 1 is some kind of a large green scorpion worm that waves its tail left and right, spreading out multiple tiny projectiles.
- By the time you get to the 1st boss, you are at around maximum level.
- The title screen shows how your spaceship evolves to its maximum size in idle position. You can move her with the joystick without inserting coins to the arcade machine.
