I see no reason why America shouldn't have a chance at having this game too. I know I'm relatively new here but I thought I'd get the ball rolling and see what we could do. Europe got it by campaigning to Rising Star Games, so why not us? Let's bombard their Twitters and see what we can do, yeah?

I'm actually still surprised Europe got it long before we did.

I'd buy it again if Aksys releases it as a disc 8)

There's no way I'd buy anything from atlus or game-on-demand from CAVE themselves.

Sure why not. I only play the Black Label version of DFK these days though.

I'd gladly pay 80-100 for a disc release bundled with BL. BL as DLC wouldn't be a dealbreaker but I'd be disappointed. I'm still kind of surprised none of the DDP games have been localized in any way given how iconic they are in the genre. If someone has heard of Cave or knows even slightest bit about bullet hell shooters they know the name DoDonPachi.

What's wrong with Atlus? I definitely think that'd be better than Aksys. Though I'd get it regardless of who was doing it.

I'd by it in a heart beat... i love the iOS version, and i know for sure that if i can play the X360 version i'd get my copy as soon as i get word of it being released... i know, i did that with the relase of DS2X... so even if they release it thru GoD, i'd get my copy of it, be it with BL included or not.

I really don't care who publishes it. Having a local release is better than shelling out 300 for a J360 that I probably won't play anything else on or spending more than I make on a PCB that I'd probably break trying to use, lol. If I could do either of those or even mod the 360 to be region free, I would have imported it a long time ago. XD

Yeah, that'd be something if such an eye-popping danmaku swag item was produced for the North American shmup crowd, dunpeal2064.

Oh true, I would love for Aksys to bring dfk here.

I just think Atlus does a far better job producing games in general. Of course since.Atlus would not be handling the port, its a moot point.

I was just playing the counter to the Atlus hate :)

I mean, I'd buy the game if XS ported it.

I do recall reading that, although Aksys was happy with Deathsmiles sales, that they had no plans to do any more shmups in the future

What losers.

Everyone knows you should only like really obscure Japanese games, and hate games that come from Europe, not America.

Tales? You mean like Tales of Phantasia, etc?

I just started playing one of the first games, but I can't consider myself too dedicated of a fan yet. Why?

They f***ed up Catherine when they brought it over to North America. I'd trust Aksys to not do the same 8)

How did they screw Catherine up? Assuming it's nothing that would be spoilers as I haven't finished it yet.

Still, like with Deathsmiles NA, it'd pretty much Cave that would do the screwing up if any happened. That really sucked for Aksys when they did Deathsmiles, but I'd hope Cave learned their lesson to not try that BS again. I'm guessing they thought we would be unaware of the differences or something. Now that they know people would complain about it, I would hope Cave wouldn't screw up DFK.

I just don't trust atlus to release the original version of the game. In this instance, atlus released Catherine as a crappy English dub in North America; we didn't get the original game.

Altus has worked with CAVE before in the Jam era, I wonder if they parted on good terms.

Apparently not. That's why we're not going to see an ESP Ra.De port anytime soon.

Dubbing aside, the game is completely in tact, and I see nothing wrong with the dubbing. I think it comes across rather nicely

No, Atlus USA hasn't. Atlus Japan has, and Atlus USA approaches Atlus Japan as almost like a third-party company, so they have their hands full in trying to localize even their Japanese counterpart's material.

This topic bothers me a bit; Europeans finally get the upper hand and Americans start feeling left out. Europeans miss out on games all the time, and don't even bat an eyelid, but when America misses out on something? Rioting, petitioning, boycotting, hatemail, the works. While Europeans are rioting over the things that matter, Americans are rioting over their first world problems. Video games.

Cave seem to be going the digital route now, as evident by Deathsmiles II X's GOD release. If so, expect to see more Cave games in similar fashion as digital material in the future. In this case, playing "guess the publisher" is irrelevant, as they won't come into the picture.

Unfortunately for you, that dub is so good that I don't think you'd understand just how good you'd have it if we got Catherine-tier dubs of CAVE games (or just any game ever, really).

You'd have better luck picking on the gameplay changes.

You hear enough "tough luck PAL region" from America and you figure out that complaining gets nowhere, at least that's how its been till recently. I suppose soccer fans in Europe rioting every time they lose a match is considered "things that matter" too eh? :P

Jokes aside, you're certainly not wrong though - I've noticed this too. Whenever I check my groups on Facebook I see all these Yanks whinging about not getting DFK and I'm just like "tough luck US region" and get plenty of thumbs ups on my comment, so the tides really are turning in regards to quality port releases here.

PS: I avoided using "Europe" as the region since in all fairness Australia has been getting the shit end of the stick as well and that's not mentioned nearly enough. At least you guys in Europe were able to get Deathsmiles without having to jump through hoops and go Sherlock Holmes on every shop around the place. Hopefully this will be remedied in the near future as well.
