Xelorians Project - my first shooter ( preview )

Hi, i'm working on shmup game for android platform and want to share my progress.

Note that this is early beta version, i've almost completed programming stuff and now i am working on gameplay/balance.

Interesting "ship" designs, are they final or placeholders? :)

Gameplay makes me think of Raiden, minus the earthly miltiary feel.

btw, are those visible hitboxes? :idea:

Ships will remain as they are on the movie, for this moment there are 24 types of them, each type has 5 color modes and 3 scale modes, also each of them have separate explosion animation.
btw, are those visible hitboxes?
sorry but i dont understand this question :/

He's referring to the yellow dots visible on the enemies.

Interesting weapon choices, though I was a bit concerned that you had to switch weapons by taking your finger off the ship and tapping the right side panel. However, I'm assuming that if you play the game with both hands (thumb to control the ship and right hand to change weapons, for example) this may not be much of an issue.

Will the ship be controlled by placing your finger under the ship or over it?

btw, are those visible hitboxes?
hitboxes are implemented as full sprite, rectangular on 90 % size ) - because engine supports only rectangular shapes , therefore bossess are constructed from 5-15 rectangles as boss ship parts

this is only for testing, weapon choice and "upgrades" will be implemented as "on pause" when you put your finger on the screen game will play, when take off - game will pause and weapons menu will show in circular choice leaving the last finger position clear to allow nice resume from last point

also the control itself will be reimplemented to full screen - touch relative to your current finger position.

after that i will have "second finger" free for additional pursposes like switching to "dark energy" similar to ikaruga or for controlling time - i've just finished TimeModifier implementation and now i can do cool slow motion effect on entire screen, i will try to record demo , explosions looks 100% better on slowmotion

5 1/2 minutes of shooting at popcorn isn't very exciting. I think I saw some medium sized enemies in there at one point, but yeah, needs a lot more enemy variety and larger enemies/midbosses etc.
