US GigaWing on PAL DC

Post by slk486 »

Does anyone know if there is a (besides region) general compatibility issues with the above?

Have tried my original disc through DC-X, and have tried burning a backup, but still no go ?
Havn't had issues with any other games.

Finally found time to start it up too :(

If you have the means (and you should, it is painfully easy) then I recommend that you convert your PAL DC to an NTSC one and use NTSC mode at all times. It will save you a boatload of headaches. But of course this means having the right kind of TV, again if you have the means, it really is your best option.

Yes, the RGB SCART cable is not supported by Gigawing. Either the standard A/V cable or the VGA box should get it working.

Doh, yeah that would be a compatibility problem even on NTSC I spose, probably best to vga-box it then you have both vga and interlaced covered for any region/signal.

Huh, didn't even think of that. Yeah I have a vga box, but that won't help much on the tv :(
I'll try setting DC-X to composit.
I remember playing GigaWing 2 just fine though.

Sux..

Edit: Setting DC-X to composit worked, except no picture, but I guess that would be a cable pin issue.

The USA region DC game of Gigawing 2 does have built-in support for JPN Scart output. Looks quite crisp running at 60fps in 480i on a low-res arcade monitor setup using one of viletim's Scart to Jamma convertors + JPN Scart cable.

Sorted it by getting hold of a PAL version, which works fine and has 60hz as well :)

Thanks for your input!
