Netplay recording?

I want to make a Let's Play style video, two options to do this is to record inputs or capture the live game with Fraps. Fraps seems to cause slowdowns, hitches and audio glitches while Kaillera's record checkbox does nothing (doesn't seem to ask me to save as a .inp file). What do?
