Over Horizon (NES)

Post by Tomtom »

I found this on Home of the underdogs forever ago and have had the ROM sitting around since then without ever having actually played it. Now that I have, though, I am quite impressed. It is a side-scrolling shooter, with a bit of a Thunder Force-ish feel to it, in that you can fire both forwards and backwards. I guess Section Z might be a bit closer, but I don't like that game, so blah.

Anyway, the design of it is very nice. I only got to the third level on my first play, but so far I like it quite a bit. Not bad for a more-or-less unknown shmup. Anyone heard of this one?

I know this game, however I haven't played it properly because I didn't like it that much. The option edit menu is a little bit strange and the levels are sometimes a little bit unfair. But the Music is really great, well... for a NES game.

Guess I should play that game again some day, maybe I'd get used to it.

I finally got around to trying this myself a few weeks ago. I don't quite see what the point of the "option edit" stuff is (I'm sure it makes a difference if you spend some time with it or something), but the game itself is quite cool. I like some of the "puzzle"-ish levels... reminds me a bit of R-Type. Even if I suck at them I do love the R-Type games. :D
