My PS2 sometimes goes from playing a disc to suddenly not recognizing a disc. It seems to be related to the latch of the lid. Its not closing properly. If I put a light weight on top it never seems to have a problem. So I was wondering if this is an easy thing to fix or not.
The system is standard, no mods have been done its like brand new looking. I would imagine the catch is just worn. It seems even when catched the 1mm of give on the lid is the difference between seeing the disc and thinking its open.
Any tips appreciated.

PS2 slim not latching very well
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

You could probably jumper or bridge the lid sensor so it's permanently closed, but if you need to swap discs for some reason then you'll lose this ability.
I Googled "ps2 lid problem" and found a bunch of info, seems pretty common.
