E3 2011 Discussion

Post by UnscathedFlyingObject »

It's E3 again soon! Let's discuss what's showing.

The following has me salivating for their release:
Dark Souls
First game I preorder in about 10 years. If I disappear for months when this game releases, ya know what happened to me.

Ninja Gaiden 3
Whooooohooo new NG game. Blood is back in spades and seems like gameplay is getting overhauled. Graphics are considerably better and will run at 60fps. 60fps! Team Ninja is the shit.

Asura's Wrath
The graphical design is awesome. Just need to know how it plays.

Shadows of the Damned
Looks cool! I know it's about to come out, but what the heck.

Twisted Metal
Totally loved this on PS2. I'll buy if it has a good campaign.

Stuff I'm hoping gets announced:
Resident Evil 6
It's two freaking years since the last one!

God Hand 2
Wishful thinking, but the Okamiden producer did show some interest a while ago.

Super Marvel vs Capcom 3
Now with all the characters people were begging for, please. MMX and Gene FTW!

Bayonetta 2
I don't think I need to say why! Perfect PS3 version, pls.

Vanquish 2
Vanquish was awesome! All I need is a longer campaign with more bosses.

KamiyaP showed interest in making something related to Jeane though.

Out of that entire list, Dark Souls. I'm not expecting anything fascinating to come out of this E3, especially since so many Japanese developers have already announced on Twitter that they don't care or won't be going to the event.

What Elixir said.
And Dark Souls should be a no brainer. Here's Dubai gameplay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7vV9Km6Zvo

Konami Pre-E3 Show is TODAY! In ~9 hours.

Ninja Gaiden III is being revealed - I have faith in Team Ninja. More gameplay videos and information on Dark Souls are coming too, otherwise 10/11 10/11 10/11

Outside of that my wishlist is pretty unrealistic except for maybe Pikmin 3/Xenoblade:
- A new 2D Castlevania, preferrably the Demon Castle War. No more 3D please, it's just not the same IGA.
- Kojima to personally announce Zone of the Enders 3 or MGS5 (and finally put that old dog to rest). The latter seems more likely with Metal Gear 25th Anniversary around the corner.
- Xenoblade release date and English trailer.
- Pikmin 3 as a Project Cafe launch title.
- Retro Studios anything.
- That abominable, shameless self-insert of a director rebooting the Devil May Cry franchise to be struck by lightning.
- Tak Fujii to make an appearance. Keep it fun, Konami.
- Would be nice to see things like MediEvil 3, new F-Zero, Strider and Mana games too.

All this. Though the main MGS storyline was put to rest after MGS4, everything else is spinoffs/prequels/other protagonists
In an alternate universal, Soldier Blade II has already been crafted by Hudson Soft and Compile with proper tate this time around (c) PC Engine Fan X!
Sega tried and failed. Nintendo didn't even try. (c) Specineff

Here's my wishlist:
1999 Julius Castlevania that goes back to the Classicvania formula and has modern stages like cities leading up to the castle
Zone of the Enders 3
Half Life Episode 3 (as a BIG SURPRISE)
Gradius Gaiden 2
God Hand 2
RSG with Ikaruga mode playable (and hopefully what I think it'll be like)

A man can dream...

When's the next major game conference happening? The ones after E3 and PAX where the stuff I care about gets announced?

I keep hoping for King's Field 5. Dark Souls is fine and I'll gladly take it, but I still want a new, proper King's Field game.

You won't get any KF. It's officially dead, that's why the Dark Side box' artwork is a tombstone with the series' lifeperiod inscribed.

(That said, you can't immagine what a happy guy I'd be if it still happens)

Yea I know. Based on the previous posts in this topic, I assumed this was a wishful thinking topic. Although it's interesting that King's Field seems less plausible than some of the previous posts. In this industry, "officially dead" is more of a marketing gimmick than real meaning.

Oh, I meant the Metal Gear name. I just want to see him with creative freedom again without Konami badgering him to produce more MGS.

Apparently, Konami's web server was not told to be EXTREEEEMELY READY.

I don't know why anyone has faith in team ninja, specially since most of the original team that made NG left the company.

Lately all team ninja has done is repackage the same game for awhile already, so they really haven't impressed me.

It wasn't a live show, apparently. That site still folded like an accordion.
  • HD Collections on PS3/X360:
    - Metal Gear Solid (2, 3, Peace Walker)
    - Zone of the Enders (1 & 2)
    - Silent Hill (2 & 3)
  • New Contra
Zone of the Enders collection, A SIGN FROM THE GODS.

Other M was fun. Itagaki had no hand in that. NG3 may not be on the level of Black, but only time will tell. I'm just going to assume the best.

EDIT: No Hudson, my bad.

This is Hayashi & co's first time making an actual game instead of a revision to one, so I'm staying optimistic and hope they know what they're doing.

Bomberman, where?

Zone collection is good. Here's hoping ZoE3 will be multiplatform or none of this will make any sense.

The MGS collection is nice, but I don't know why it excludes the first game. Anyone playing MGS2 as their first MGS is just going to be confused as all fuck.

Probably something to do with it being on PSN.

I'm quite interested in why ZOE Collection has transfarring. What will it e swapping data with?

As for MGS I think it's mostly because any PS3 can play MGS, either classics or just popping in the disc. I'm mostly interested in being able to play Peace Walker with a proper controller.

I don't think NG3 will be half as good as NGB or NG2, but it's still the only action game on the horizon that has any potential. I'll take what I can get.

The upcoming MGS collection is also going to appear on 360, but without the first or fourth game. It's like giving someone the fighting scenes in a movie without the opening or closing.

Pretty excited about an HD remake of Silent Hill 2+3 double pack! But WTF on never getting a remake of the first game? Oh, well..
Looking forward to info on Bioshock Infinite, seeing if I am Alive is actually still alive, and well.. Maybe something cool from Capcom. Other than that really hoping for a good surprise announcement, or a good early teaser demo over xbox live.

So many HD remakes...I'd much rather see new games than a glossed up game I've already been familiar with for years..."HD" is getting old.

Hell yes, what's keeping them?
Harmony of Despair and Adventure Rebirth are both good games, but I'm missing my annual IGAVania fix! The biggest. It's been three years since Ecclesia now, and they haven't even announced anything. The biggest gap between two portable CV games since Circle of the Moon has been two years. Ecclesia was one of the best yet, too, I really liked where they were going with the multiple stages design and awesome boss fights.

True, but if we think about it, anything that'be released as KF5 while still trying to do a halfway decent revenue in this day and age won't look nor play like a KF. IMHO a "Dark Souls" with an option to switch camera perspective(Baroque remake comes to mind) is the closest we can wish for... but that might prove difficulty in balancing the game.

Personally I think the demon's/dark souls series is doing a great job taking over for King's Field, and I really wouldn't want it any other way. I'm generally not much for first person games anyway.

Of course, it's not really unlikely with other King's Field spinoff games, such as they did with both Shadow Tower and Demon's Souls.
