A guy at a hacker lab in the Netherlands interfaced with a 1943 board's Z80 to add persistent high score storage, on-screen messages and the ability to tweet new high scores. Check it out:

I saw the second part of the thread title and somehow assumed it was an April Fools Thread that I had just noticed.

That's awesome. It'll be interesting to see if this is adapted to any other arcade boards/systems.
