I've got a copy of ZanacXZanac that i want to try and raffle off here in the Sale/Trade Forum. I have talked with the mods and have been given a go-ahead, but before I write up the Sales Topic, i want to hear some opinions from the forum members.
NOTES:
-I would charge a fee for a ticket in the raffle. As more people participate, the lower the fee will be. I would like to make it clear that I am not trying to get rich off this sale, I just need money and no one is biting on my Sale Thread.
-There would be a minimum number of participants required to go ahead with the raffle.
-In preparation for the final thread, I will be looking into setting up a Paypal account for fee submission convenience. Money orders will be accepted as well.
-I would set a deadline for those interested, at which point I will start to accept payment.
-The actual raffle would take place on some, as yet undecided, date. The winner would be drawn, at random. A program that has a random number generator, will likely be used to determine the winner from a list.
-The winner drawn will be final.
--------------------------------------------------
Now on to your opinions:
-Would such a plan interest you?
-What kind of fee would you consider fair, given the proposal?
-Would I be trusted, given the proposed rules? I understand that I am relying completely on my reputation in this venture.
-Are there any other rules/comments you would like to suggest?
Thank you very much, and I look forward to reading your opinions on this matter.
Regards
Capt

Here's an idea - ask who all would buy a ticket, and gather up all their names. Only allow this to happen up to a certain date. Once that date comes, take the amount you want for the game, add about $20 (in case anyone backs out), and divide it by the number of people. That's how much a ticket costs.
Ask everyone to send you the money - do you take PayPal...it might be painful to wait on a bunch of cash/money orders in the mail.
Then once you've got all the money, choose a winner and send the game.
As for the fairness of choosing a winner, it's really easy to whip up a simple Excel spreadsheet that has everyone's name, then a random number beside them (you can tell Excel to re-generate the random numbers whenever you want). So you simply re-generate the random numbers, then sort the records, largest one wins! For super-extra fairness, get a moderator to do the actual draw, and make sure that he/she isn't entered in the raffle.
I see no real flaws in this plan - does anyone else? Provided of course that the people who wanted a ticket actually pay for it - but I think most of us here are fairly trustworthy, honest individuals.

if I give another advice... ok, there's no way to really control this, but it would be nice to sell tickets to guys who don't have the game. It would be pretty lame to win it here, and then plan to sell elsewhere for a gain. I'm saying because ZXZ is becoming quite pricey.
btw, I already own the game, so I'm out. Good luck to you all!

It's a clever idea, but really hard to work out. I just sort of don't get it. Just sell the game if you want to sell it. Yes, it's cool that someone will get it for a few dollars, but if you're going to mix paypal and money orders it's going to almost certainly be a mess. It's like you're selling the game fifty times over. That's fifty transactions that have to go smoothly before one game can be shipped out.

I bought mine for 80 something like 6 months ago but didn't like it and got rid of it. If yours doesn't sell, it just means that your price is not right. I sure as heck wouldn't pay 120 for that game, more like 50. Though, you can get away with 80 or higher due to its "rarity" (ooopppss, did I say rare? maybe the price will shoot up, and it'll be gone in seconds.)
"Sooo, what was it that you consider a 'good salary' for a man to make?"
