Wait. Is this even legal? I mean, with ZUN's policy of the small distribution via PC and such. Something like App store doesn't seem suited for that, let alone when the game looks like it contains ripped material as well?

No this probably isn't legal. This is exactly the type of shit ZUN said he doesn't want people doing with his IP without his explicit permission. Looking at screenshots from this game, it wouldn't surprise me if it was made just to spite him though.

Yep. The character select artwork is different (also looks like it was ripped off from several different artists), but the later screens have have ZUN's artwork in it.

Nevermind that ZUN basically banned digital distribution for Touhou fanworks without his explicit permission. Touhou fanworks should only be sold through traditional doujin outlets, so conventions like Comiket and Reitaisai along with retail outlets that sell doujin material.

So, is MoTK raging enough already and promptly reporting this to the ZUNgod? Or the japanese people for that matter? I remember there was a lot of controversy with the indie game Osmos and how another developer "stole" the name before they could even put it up for sale or something.

I feel kinda silly calling a shmup a rip off but thats what that is and not just some fan game as the game originally sold for $5 with an ad bar, no its free with an ad bar where they have to pay to get rid of it (even those who paid $5 for it originally)

The sad thing is, is that even if ZUN manages to get the game taken off the market, itll take him a bit of time before it happens. And by then the maker will of already made a decent amount of cash from it due to the news of this spreading like wildfire through the Touhou fan community and ppl even if theyre morally opposed to it will buy it just to check it out.

However as a outsider looking in ive always had the impression that the large majority of Toudou fans are skint teenagers and including even some of the most hardcore havnt even spent one penny on their hobby instead getting it all for free off the net. So I doubt theyll even own a ipad / iphone to beable to play it dont know how popular its gonna be atleast as the touhou fans go. Btw ild thought Ild atleast point out that this isnt me doing my usual anti touhou axe grinding, im just making an observation thats all. (which will probably turn out to be completly wrong)
