My computer recognizes my stick as an xbox controller but neither mames in built joystick support or joytokey allows me to use it properly. ive got the buttons working ok but the games arent recognizing the joystick input.
any advice / help please?

nvm just discovered the answer for myself. for anyone else having trouble with stick input, go to the .ini file/folder and edit the configuration file, there will be a line that says something like 'joystick 0' edit it to 'joystick 1'. then in the mame controller input options you can enable joystick support. then just use the in game controller edit options to configure your stick and buttons.
