Metal Assault (Metal Slug meets zombies meets online???)

I just got a mail about this for the open beta. It even has zombies for those psycho CoD players and zombie fans.

But what do you guys think? Interesting or Metal Slug+Online=LOLWUT? It's 2D, it is promotioned as a 2D action shooter, a free run 'n' gun. Could be interesting. It has boobs too if anyone is interested...

Now that I have your attention, I'm usually not interested in this kind of thing but I liked what I saw, if only because it was so silly but promises loads of pew pew.

I still can't quite scratch the "It's gonna be 'lol', and not precisely of the good kind" but one can hope right?

big edit: I changed the topic title, this looks more in the vein of Alien Swarm with teams of four people than a true MMORPG.

Yeah nice ones too. Was sort of hoping the in-game graphics were of the same quality, but alas, it's a bit of a letdown from the vid.

Looks quite decent and the best thing about it is that it isnt region locked unlike Dungeon Fighter Online, Ive been wanting to play that game for ages but the english version is US only FFS!

I know im derailing the thread slightly but does anyone know of any other mmos that are simlar to this or DFO or are hybrids of other arcade game genres with an mmo aspect to it like the racing MMO Drift City?

I know that MegaMan is getting his own MMO BTW

Apparently it's a bit of a let down, according to my mate. He's the one that got me into Arad Senki (the Japanese version of Dungeon Fighter Online) so I trust his opinion. Arad Senki is pretty incredible. If you like side scolling beat em ups then you are gonna love this. In the end I have to say, RPG facets aside, this has the best gameplay of any walk-along (the combos you can achieve in 2 player are wicked) and moves are learned as you level up. The art (all pure 2d) is fantastic also. THIS IS LIKE GOLDEN AXE ON CRACK, but you will need to fake a jap account to play. It isn't region locked like Dungeon Fighter, but if they fucked with the voice acting I wouldn't bother playing anyway!

plays much more like Soldat than Metal Slug. The few co-op games I played were more spamfests than anything else. Who knows, maybe it will grow on me
