Any good for the PSP? Anyone got it here. Trailer looks a bit slow and boring. All views gratefully received.

i played this one b4 when it was available on nokia phones... there, they ROCKED... i played the sequel on the iTouch and the N97 and while good, it paled in comparison with other offerings (not really on the N97... there, the game rocked!).

now, playing it on the PSP was a no no for me... sure, it controls better and all that, but it just doesnt click on me on that machine... i'd stay away from it. if you want one of those PSP Minis, i'd go for one named "Who's that flying" ...

I've played it. It is, indeed, 'slow and boring'.

I care! I bought a psp because I wanted something better that FREE flashgames on the net. And the price of a game is not what it cost. It's allso the time you spend with the game.

I understand.

To be honest I made a bit of a mistake getting a PSP-GO. I made the following thread: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=35504 but bought a Go before I'd properly considered all the answers. I've now realised that trying to run emulation on the Go is virtually impossible and to make it worse I can't even download the shooters I want because they are on the Japanese PSN Store and not the UK one and I can't get my head around the switching of accounts.

But, since this is not the hardware section of the site lets talk about games. Where are all the shooters for the PSP (let alone any other decent games) on the PSN store? Trawling through Media Go for shooters is all rather depressing.

I think I only have one shmup on my psp and its "last resort" one of the many good arcade games in "SNK arcade clasics vol 1" Aside I know there is a snk shmup with king of fighters charters on the PSN. It's called SNK shooter heroes or something like that, but I haven't played it, so I can't really say if it's a good shmup or not...There should allso be neo geo game called alpha mission something allso on the psn store... I don't have a network to hook up my psp on to the intrenet at home...so those two are the only shmups I know are out there... Besides from shmups I would like to recommend front mission 3(best mech game I've played) and Wild arms XF(japanese voice optional XD)

Thanks but cannot abide Mech games.

I have the SNK shooter heroes thing and I have to say it's "ok" but no more.

Edit:

Hmm. Maybe I'll try this....hang on that's not a mech is it?

Yeah, I'd agree with that. It's flawed but it's still fairly playable.

Euro PSP owners don't have much to choose from when it comes to shmups, particularly since PSone shmups like R-Type Delta, Einhander and G-Darius aren't on the store here.

The ones I've played the most are Last Resort (on the SNK collection), the Gradius collection, plus stuff on the Capcom collections (Gunsmoke, Vulgus, 1941, Eco Fighters, Forgotten Worlds, Varth and Side Arms). The Salamander and Twinbee collections didn't get released here either (and seem pretty expensive online now). Darius Burst might come out over here eventually...

As for the Minis, Who's That Flying is probably best of a fairly mixed bunch, although I'm not a huge fan of the game myself. There are also a few more PSN games, Twin Stick shooters (without the other stick :) ) like Super Stardust and Everyday Shooter. Both are pretty good assuming you don't mind having to use the face buttons to shoot in the direction you want.

Oh, one other game that I thought was coming out was Gunbird 2 Remix. I saw the announcement for it last year, but it now appears to have been cancelled. :(

Thanks.

Just tried to see if there was an e-mail address on the PSP Store I could vent a bit of frustration to but there is not. In fact there's no address on the whole of the PSN store as far as I can see.

Maybe I should report Sony to Trading Standards? It's hard to not feel a little conned if you're a Go owner when so many games are available in the shops but there is so little choice on-line. Then I get an e-mail telling me all about Ultimate Portable. I think not.

Fingers' crossed for Darius Burst.
