Stick/buttons that will drop right into a DC Agetech base?

Post by 8 1/2 »

I have one a US release Agetech stick for the Dreamcast (the classic bulky one with green buttons). I want to drop a nice LS-32 in there, but I've heard that you need to grind down the bottom plate to make some sticks fit. Does anyone know if an LS-32 will require said grinding, and/or does anyone know of a stick that will just drop in if my preferred choice won't?

Also, I want to redo the buttons. Will standard Sanwa OBSF's snap in, or do I need something different?

Standard 30mm buttons (Sanwa, Seimitsu) will fit in the Agetec just fine, providing the grind the holes in the faceplate. Do yourself a favor and forget about that. Just get one of Art's plexi replacement panels. http://www.tek-innovations.com/arthobbi ... t=&item=88

I barely managed to fit a LS-56 in my Agetec, but it was worth it. Had to file the plastic tabs of the joystick holder until they were *completely* flat and grind the bottom shaft of the 56 down to almost nothing. The e-clip had to be hot glued in place.

Grinding down the inner plastic for the stick is the easy part. I was able to do it pretty quickly using a cutting disc on my Dremel to remove the bulk of the plastic, and then using a grinding bit to get it flush. But good Lord, grinding the metal plate for the buttons is an utter nightmare and I think it took me 3 or 4 evenings just to widen the holes for those 6 buttons. I didn't know about these plexi panels but I wish I did!

Thanks guys. Definitely going to be picking up one of those plexi tops here in the near future.

I suppose it saves labour to get the plexiglass panel, but I'd prefer the feel of the original painted metal. A file and some patience is all it takes to widen those holes.
