Minotaur Rescue just released by Jeff Minter

Post by IronGiant »

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/minotaur ... 75782?mt=8

Compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), and iPad. Requires iOS 3.0 or later.

Looks really nice, but as I like an iPhone, iPod or iPad I'll have to wait for the PC version.

Looks hot, will buy a PC release.

Still waiting for a sequel to Ancipital, Mr. Minter.

Holy fucking whacky controls!

It's Minter so I'll give it time to grow on me. Game is cool as hell but so far I haven't grasped not running into things.

Game's going to give you that Atari 2600 feeling, so if that doesn't get you all hot and worked up.. move along.

So... The lads are not terribly excited about it? Shame, as I liked Space Giraffe and Gridrunner Revolution on the PC big time.

I think it's interesting for sure, and I like the retro vibe. For controls, imagine Asteroids with a touch screen interface and a black hole in the middle pulling you toward death.

Still, Minter's a genius so I'm probably just not on an evolved enough plane to properly grasp it just yet.

This game always crashes at the open feint starting screen, I can't get it to run on my iPod touch. Anyone else has this problem?

Also there was already this thread but whatever:

Almost makes it sound like Eugene Jarvis is dead or something. He is very much alive and apparently working on a sequel to Target:Terror. Would Jeff Minter approve?

Although I'm sure Eugene would approve, I really don't understand why he doesn't try making manic games like that. I mean, yeah driving and lightgun games are bringing in the bucks for Raw Thrills, but I think he could risk a little to try something more robotron like.

In a lot of ways, downloadable games are the new arcades (EDIT: I am saying this to the wrong person, aren't I?) - I think a game like that from Jarvis could do very well there and I'd like to see him try. I guess there is the worry that people would care as little about a new Robotron-like from Jarvis as they would a new Big Buck Hunter Pro - with his recent output, I'm not sure he'd have as much to offer the genre he helped define as Minter does.
