Any Shooters from Adelaide?

Yeah good to meet you. So what Shmups do you get into? I know that there's fuck all arcades left here, so I'm going to assume you either MAME or have a J360...

I play these days mainly on my 360 have a tated 21" crt i use which does the job

I do have 2 29" namco excellena 2's which i use for neo geo and other fighting games usually.
I do get into old school new school any shmup but i am not very pro though but i try

Ahh, I see your into your fighters too. I'm playing all the latest shooters on J360 thru a 50" Plasma (Yoko for now), plus all the shooters on PS2. I also have a shitload of fighters plus stick and SSF4 is getting a lot of love at the mo. Also Melty Blood and Fate: Unlimited Codes. My gamertag is Katbizkitz on PSN. I don't just love STG, I love all good 2D titles. But Shmups is probably my favourite genre.

I got a mate that moved down there, fortunately I got her into shmups before she left.

I'm actually up north in Darwin, we're losing most of our old arcade machines here too, but there's a few around. Unforunately I found that After Burner Climax is *already* broken and Raiden II is the only Raiden cabinet that's left at a known location. The rest are either broken or moved somewhere where I'll probably never see them again.

I like CRT id rather play on my 21" sony g520 doesnt make it very useful for anything else but they are pretty much a dime a dozen now days so its worth it if u have the space. I am really thinking of just setting up my j360 for just shooters and getting another for all other games that way i can interface into one of my candy cabs. I am not as hardcore any more though but when i have some free time i enjoy pounding through a few credits, not so great on chaining and scoring im pretty n00b for most of that sort of thing.

I havent played many fighting games either as of late me good mate i used to play with has moved over seas so i have lost a bit of spark. KOF series and Mark of the wolves would be my fav's im kinda a SNK man at heart.

Heh, I'm kinda suprised to see anyone else from Adelaide on here. I only know one other person who is into 1CCing games (but I don't think he's big on STGs). Anyway I've been neglecting STGs and playing tons of 2D action games recently, but I usually play on my TATE'd CRT with a J-PS2 hooked up.

If you guys want fighters then I suggest you check out EVAC, Adelaide Uni's gaming club. When it's back on after the holidays, at least. Attendence fluctuates a lot but we have a few KoF players (who are basically the remnants of when Adelaide actually had a fighter scene in the arcade), SSFIV, SFIII: 3S and Blazblue all get played pretty regularly as well.

To BPzeBanshee: How serious is this chik into shmups? I will gladly continue the good work that you started! seriously though, I have never seen a chik ever display even the slightest interest in shooting games. The closest they seem to get is Puzzle Bobble....

Her main area of expertise is Tetris (got a Pro rank at a competitive Tetris website XD) but she has a go at every game I've thrown at her from Thunder Force III to ESPRade to Raiden II. Personal fave goes to RayStorm that she had since she was a kid (and didnt remember the title till I found a video of it by description on YouTube).
But yeah, was a surprise for me too. "HOLY SHIT I LOVE RAIDEN WITH THE TOOTHPASTE LASER" she said first time I demonstrated and I was like "OMIGOD REALLY NOWAI".

No she isn't. I generally can't stand most asians myself, the ones where I live have as bad attitudes as the aborigines up here do (though their hygeine is better, and they're more snobby and hypocritical).
