Any Howard Stern fans here?

Post by Strider77 »

*the prank phone call link at the end is priceless, skip along if the rest is of no interest to you

My boss got serius "satellite radio" about a year or so ago. A female co-worker of all folks asked to switch it to Stern one day. I became quite hooked, I hadn't found any media out there that made me laugh so hard on a daily basis. Then there are the folks (mostly famous) being called out on there phoney bull shit with hard facts to back it up.

And dear god the callers.... get to hear from some crazy ass people on that show. I've found myself not being able to leave work b/c I dare not miss out on some moments.

I've also been shocked at the interviews.... some folks that I would have assumed were total ass holes were actually quite genuine and normal people along with being goods sports. Then their have been others that I thought were cool folks only to find how phoney they were. He has a real talent, after listening for awhile you'll find out real quick what guests are just PR fakes and what ones are real.

The Tiger Woods Mistress Beauty Pageant was such a awesome guilty pleasure, I remember setting my clock extra early the night before so I was sure to be at work before the show started. He can make the most foolish things become reality and you can't help be glued to it while it's happening.

Barbara Walters was a guest once and that was a really great and fun interview. I never knew she had such a great since of humor and was such a good sport: she really had a knack for answering some of Howard's oh so personal questions honestly and with a laugh.

And dear god.... the prank phone calls, PRICELESS!!!

If you're a listener then you know about his contract ending soon and the big question of will he be coming back to serius. i hope to hell he does.

Here is one of my favorite prank calls from the show:

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Used to watch the taped show on E! religiously, but sort of lost interest not too long after Jackie left. My favorite bits usually involved the really good in-fighting/arguing between all the personnel that would occasionally lead to people threatening to quit.

i've been a listener since 1996 and bought a sirius radio as soon as he made the announcement he was going to satellite. best purchase i've ever made.

if you haven't heard yet he signed for another 5 years. howard announced it this morning.

i can't wait for artie to come back on the show. after what he tried to do to himself, that is going to be one strange day.

I was a long time listener. I did not follow him to satellite though. I really miss listening to that show in the morning. There's nothing but garbage to listen to in the morning. I should just get satellite radio.

Is that actually happening?? If so, then I'll definitely be tuning back in.

Artie was the best on that show IMO. His stories were the best. It sucks that things went down as they did.

Pulled some Artie story clips

Yeah I heard it this morning. I liked Artie, but honestly I wish they'd keep George Tekai on there. Whenever I hear him on at the beginning of a show I get excited.... never would have guessed it but he makes for a great third wheel. Lot's of laughs.

Just like Little Lupe... when I heard here deal and they said she was that day's guest I was disappointed, but she would up being one of my favorite current regulars. Hard to say why but a lot of listeners seem to like her on there also.

Listened to him in the mornings for about three months a few years before his jump from regular radio. Found it funny at first, but it got very predictable very quickly. By the end of the third month, I could swear I was hearing reruns, because the gags and such felt painfully recycled and played out the same way each time. It just got old and I left it behind.

I listened for about a year back in '97 or so when he was still on syndicated radio and I was a morning commuter. There were some occasional clever bits, but even being at the young age of 17 I could see that humor involving poop, pee, lesbians, and midgets can only remain "shocking" for so long and I lost interest not long after my initial exposure. A few years later I caught his show on E! and was thoroughly unimpressed - however, I really enjoyed "Private Parts". Honestly I've never understood what the big deal is about him or why he has such a rabid fan base... :? I guess I feel the same way about him as I do Robin Williams. Sometimes he's funny, but the majority of the time he's really not.

It's 4 to 5 hours of constant new content monday through friday every or almost every week uncensored. If you can listen to the radio while you work.... it can't be beat. No repeating music tracks, no suffering through music you hate, no having to find a new group of MP3s ect. It's a constant 4 to 5 hours of non repeats everyday with minimum advertising/commercials.

I love it for work... makes my days go buy so quick. Not everyday is priceless but a lot of moments I have heard are. that show tought me it was OK to have a sense of humor and not everything has to be highbrow.

I remember watching his show on E! about ten years ago. Didn't have internet and it was the closest thing to porn I could get.

Did you ever hear the Jerky Boys track where they call to the FCC or something to have him "shut down". It was Sol Rosenberg that made the call. Fucking classic.

I listened daily to his syndicated show on regular radio but wasn't about to pay a monthly fee to listen when he switched to satellite. Once Sal and Richard Christy became so prominent towards the end it really began to feel like I was listening to audio of a gay porno flick half the time. I always liked the end of the show when Robin (who I could never stand) would do the news and Howard and Artie would comment on it. Artie Lang was better than Jackie by a mile imo, the only good thing about the jokeman was when the Howard and the rest of the crew would rip on him which was pretty much constantly.
