Just got hold of the LKV360, which is the new version with 1080p output support. I am having an issue with running a PAL saturn forced to 60hz, which is that the output is in black and white. This also occurs with a PS2 forced to PAL60, and then switched to NTSC after bootup (such as playing SMT: Lucifer's Call, and switching to its NTSC/60hz mode). It doesn't occur when forcing NTSC or PAL60 in my PS2 modchips settings, without switching back to NTSC later on. This seems to indicate that the PAL Saturn's forced 60hz output is some sort of non standard mode. But this non standard mode works fine with the XRGB-2. It's almost like there are colour carrier issues, but given that this is converting RGB and not composite, this should not be an issue (and regular PAL or NTSC would be in black and white as well)
EDIT: Actually, I just noticed that it comes up with CVBS when booting the saturn, so it appears that it must be trying to run in composite video mode. But why? The cable is wired correctly as it works fine with my XRGB-2 (which is rewired internally to except euro scart). Maybe it is just confused with the saturn's video output, so it switches to composite. Very strange.
EDIT 2: Oh and it occurs in both 720p and 1080p output modes, so that is not the issue.
EDIT 3: In case it wasn't clear, this is a SCART RGB > HDMI converter. Also, I am now convinced that it is switching to composite when the output is black and white. Disregarding the lack of colour, it looks much worse than normal and is overlaid with a large amount of diagonal scrolling lines.
EDIT 4 : I tried my dreamcast and it wouldn't work at all. I also tried my gamecube, and it showed an image, but it was very dark, had trouble syncing consistently and it looked terrible. I wonder if this box needs power on pin 16, much like some scart TVs? It seems like it has the box has trouble between deciding between composite and RGB, which would explain the weird issues I am getting.
EDIT 5: Yeah, the specifications say that it uses pin 16 to select between RGB and Composite. Annoying. I wonder if I can force it to RGB at all times? I don't want to have to rewire all of the cables, especially if it requires something high like 12V before it will work. Which may be the case, given that the dreamcast and gamecube cables are both the official cables.

Okay, so I removed pin 16 from the LKV360 scart socket, and then wired it to its 5v input through a 100ohm resistor (which gives around 3V, which is the correct voltage for pin 16) but nothing changed. Also removed the resistor to see if it would work at 5v, but it did not.

Okay, so I've come to the conclusion that it is not running in RGB mode, full stop. Pretty impressive composite conversion for it to fool me
Although I did find the output to be worse than my TV and the XRGB-2. I guess the next question is why is it not switching to RGB at all? I sent off an email to the guy I bought it from, maybe I'll get some answers.
