Nothing's been announced yet, but I noticed that INH Group added Cave to their list of company web site links.
A few weeks before they announced the Street Fighter II DVD, Capcom was added to the company links as well. Assuming they follow the same pattern, this could mean that a Cave DVD is on the way.
Since they've gone with very popular "bench mark" type of games from the mid-nineties (Garegga, Raiden Fighters, SSF2X) I'd guess Dodonpachi would be the subject of the next DVD. Or maybe they want to do the Ketsui DVD that Arika bailed out on. Random speculation anyone?
Upcoming CAVE insanity DVD?

Maybe they'll finally include Tate screen orientation in their discs like MCS does.... or maybe not.Rastan78 wrote:Nothing's been announced yet, but I noticed that INH Group added Cave to their list of company web site links.

If it is a cave dvd, I wonder what game it will be. I would group the games this way for the odds of a dvd:
No chance at all: DDP campaign, esprade, espgaluda, dangun feveron.
Slim to none chance: Guwange, Progear, DDP.
Medium chance: DDP DOJ, DDP DOJ BL.
Good chance: mushihime sama, donpachi.
Most likely: ketsui.
In the no chance category, either the game is so rare no one plays it (ddp-c) or the game already has a superplay with scores are so close to the maximum that a new dvd probably wouldn't be that interesting. I think if they put out a new esprade video it could possibly do well if marketed as a cure for insomnia.
Guwange and Progear have superplays, but people have recently set new records in the games. The ddp 748M run would be a huge success if it were recorded. Then again if it were recorded, the SOF people would sell it themselves.
The DOJ series has a few new high scores. 2B+ with a/b-exy in DOJ and 3B+ in DOJ BL. This dvd would generate some sales.
Mushihime Sama has no superplay. It is a very current game so finding active players to make the dvd would be easy. Perhaps Mushihime Sama is too new for INH to make a superplay.
Donpachi also has no superplay video. This is the video I hope INH makes. Stage 2-4 at its highest rank is very, very, very scary. It would be very interesting to see all the combos players can come up with. There are some problems with making the video however. I have been told no top players play the game anymore. There is also a very small pool of players capable of making such a video.
I am predicting a ketsui video. It seems the most likely to me. The scores have skyrocketed since the release of the Imikachi video. Players have also completely figured out how to dodge every possible doom attack. If someone hasn't already finished the game "all clear no miss," it is now within the realm of possibility. There is also lots of talk about 2ch about a ketsui dvd, people are always asking when one will be made. A ketsui video would make lots of money.

thanks for the analysis... I agree a donpachi video would be an interesting choice.
Personally I think I would be most interested in a really nice DDP dvd, but Ketsui, Mushihime-sama, and DP would be cool as well. I'd probably only shell out $$$ for DDP however.

Warning! The Tuna Sashimi Is Approaching At Full Throttle! Be Appetite For Gains!
Since they're putting out a soundtrack CD with this DVD series, that's something else to consider. Some of the newer games might be a better choice for a soundtrack DVD combo than something like Dodonpachi. Manabu Namiki did a remixed track just for the Garegga DVD set so it might be a game he was involved with again (i.e. Ketsui).
The next DVD is going to be Fighters History Dynamite!? I guess Japanese gamers never let the competition die. I can remember having some fun with this game at a local bowling alley, but I never guessed they would be having a tournament and DVD for the game ten years later.
Looks like this one will be priced much lower than the previous releases though. Here's hoping the next one is that Cave DVD or at least shmup related. I think they also have plans to release some puzzle game replays.

kof95.. wtf.. thats about as exiting as a frogger superplayzlk wrote:The sof people who made great ddp/ddp special version/ddp-doj black label replays decided that their next tape would be made to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of a great game!

I naturally was hoping for someone finally to make a good donpachi replay.........
