Theres that XBLA 4 player shmup that allows 1player to control 2 ships, its has been delayed for (ice) ages. The devs used to post here at one time. Cant remember the name but someone will chime in with it

Then theres that freeware Gradius / Nemisis remake that played online with other players. Nemisis Online is its name, dont know if it still works online as its been out for a while

I've never understood how this game has this many fans.

It's a horrible game through and through.

Am I the only one who kind of agrees with Kotaku? Limited edition sets are nothing but a game with added throw away garbage. It's here's the game and here's a bunch of crap that we'll charge you 30 bucks extra for.

I think it's the reason why I'll never buy a limited edition game ever again.

I think Blast Works may very well have been one of the first.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Wait, Shooting Love had a limited edition? I can't find anything that says it has a 4-player mode though.

Twin stick shooters aren't true shmups (Omega Five being the only exception.)

So wish I could get together 4 people to play GigaWing 2, it must be utterly insane. The game pools together everyone's score in multiplayer, right? Are there any videos of 4-player?

'Scuse me. Under the configure controls tab in ShmupMAME, it has 4 start buttons and coin buttons (and it doesn't for DDP or Mars Matrix). I thought that implied 4-player mode.

^ Which version? The Saturn one definitely doesn't, and I don't remember the arcade having one. Unless it was a DIP setting to switch between 2 and 4 players max...

Arcade version of Rayforce doesn't either, and the only DIP setting for player number is 1 vs. 2-player support.

No, it didn't. The initial release included a superplay DVD from INH (just like the Japanese release of RFA). The Shmups Skills Test has a 4-player mode.

It's a blast to play a four-player session of DC GW2 -- just gotta get four DC controllers and three other chumps for a awesome shmup experience. If you want to go all out, four pairs of DC arcade sticks would be uber-cool for such a multiplayer GW2 session. It's widely known that the original Sega Naomi powered GW2 cartridge supports two players at best. Capcom & Takumi went the extra mile to give DC shmup fans a cool bonus by incorporating this nifty 4P feature. Truly insane with the Takumi stylized scatterfire patterns.

It'd be sick if a fellow shmupper were to show off a 4P candy cab with a copy of DC GW2 up and running on it (using either viletim's Scart to Jamma adapter or the Ultracade UVC setup). That'd be truly hardcore shmupping at it's best.
