Hey
I recently tried hooking my CDX upto a monitor using a XRGB-2 Plus and the results were horrible. The problem does not lie with the monitor or XRGB, they work beautifully with my Saturn via RGB. So, its either the CDX or the Scart cable I am using. I hook it up using some custom made Genesis II Scart cables that is routed through a similarly custom made Euro Scart to Japanese RGB21 converter.
The guy who made both cables for me is a reputable person who has been doing this for long time. The fault does not lie with the converter, as that functions perfectly with the Saturn as well. So its either the Euro Scart or the CDX.
Due to the CDX being rare I have not been able to find any information about people successfully tapping into its RGB output. Or wither it even does RGB properly. So, anyone here with a CDX that has it hooked up via RGB that can confirm that it is supposed to work.
Or anyone know anything regarding this at all?
Can anyone confirm first hand that CDX does RGB?
Re: Can anyone confirm first hand that CDX does RGB?
I've got a CDX that I have run via RGB
I can't remember what I ran it on last, but I'm pretty sure I've run it on both my old Apple II monitor as well as my XRGB2+. I don't know what SCART TV's require as far as DC coupled or AC coupled, but I'm running mine AC, which means you have to add Capacitors to the signals. IIRC, you need the following components between the console's AV port and your RGB display:
R: in series 75 Ohm Resistor + 220 uF Capacitor
G: in series 75 Ohm Resistor + 220 uF Capacitor
B: in series 75 Ohm Resistor + 220 uF Capacitor
Composite Sync: in series 100uF Capacitor
You should open your cable connectors up and check which cable may or may not have any of those parts inside... or just ask the guy you got them from

CDX runs RGB just fine and in stereo. I connect to XRGB-2 directly using RGB-21 wires purchased from Yahoo Japan.

Thanks guys, it seems I can safely blame my issues on a faulty cable. Also I have a XRGB-2+, so I souldn't need to cap anything, just feed that RGB signal to the XRGB and let it do its magic.
