I am hoping to find this on MAME, but did not find it yet.
Somewhere in the 90's I enjoyed a platform shooter in the Arcades, which I would like to play again. The exact year is unknown to me, it was somewhere in an Arcade in Spain and I remember vividly they had Double Dragon II - The Revenge there as well.
The game I'm referring to is a platform shooter which was quite similair in looks and gameplay as Turrican. You were playing a robot, or person in robot suit, running, jumping and shooting all sorts of enemies. I know this is quite a vague description, which could lead to a dozen of games, but that's all I remember.
Of course, there were the unavoidable end of level buddies, and after that (I think) there was a short scene with a space ship on a map, showing your ship travelling to the next planet. Music was quite good, and I know one of the themes exactly by head still. Unfortunately, the themes in my head don't show over the Internet.
Oh yeah, there was one level involved with jets of fire or vulcanoes. Basically, that was all.
Any idea?

Re: Searching for a specific Platform Shooter
Psycho-Nics Oscar and Xain'd Sleena instantly spring to mind when Turrican is mentioned (and apparently the former was Manfred Trenz's main inspiration for Turrican)
Re: Searching for a specific Platform Shooter
PS. it's Xain'd Sleena / Solar Warrior. I just double checked the bit about it showing your ship traveling to the next planet
Re: Searching for a specific Platform Shooter
nem wins the prize. Hard to forget the rather Star Trek-sounding space theme.
Re: Searching for a specific Platform Shooter
Yup, gotta be Xain'D.
More good news: It's a legitimately great game, not a case of your memories betraying you. Still looks good too.

IGMO - Poorly emulated, never beaten.

Cool! It indeed was Xain´d Sleena. A shame you can not fire diagonally and the jumping is a bit awkward, but a great game nevertheless. Ah memories...
