Pop'n Tanks/decent tank action games

Post by spadgy »

Is this one any good? It looks like a lot of fun. I'd be keen to hear if it works well two-player.

There was Seek and Destroy and despite it being a bit 'budget', it was fun, but I'm sure there's better in the 'tank 'em up' genre. Perhaps you folks know some decent alternatives?

Pretty fun, and if you understand Japanese, you might want to spend your time in the 'Tank World' mode, where you can modify your tank with stuffes, beat other rivals to be the number one, etc.

For other games, I think the old Tread Marks (PC) might still a good choice as well.

edit: Here's more: PSX: Steel Reign, Tiny Tank, BattleTanx: Global Assault, Panzer Front
PS2: WDL Thunder Tanks
PC: Recoil

You might well already know of it Spadgy, but give Guardian Force (STV/Saturn) a go if you haven't. It's a top-down shooter, pretty much, but the eight-way turret action is tanktastic, and the multiscrolling levels have enemies attacking from all sides. It's by Success, the Cotton / Psyvariar guys.

Thanks you guys. Great stuff.

I love Success' shooter work, so I'll definately give Guardian Force a go - it's been for sale in my local import game store for years, and I think I just judged the book by its cover. Never noticed it was by Success either. On the WTB list!

There's also :
Granada on megadrive
Tank Domination a freeware doujin
Assault on arcade/psx (Namco Museum Vol.4)
Assault City as a paid doujin, it's a remake of the namco game.
