Bio Hazard Battle

Post by dczx »

Wow, just picked up this shmup today. Compared to the other Genesis shmups I've played, this has pretty detailed graphics, more like a Turbographx. The gameplay is pretty challenging. It's nice to have 4 ships and 2 player option too.

The thing is darn weird too. No instruction manual so I have no idea about the story other than I am some kind of alien plant that comes out of a spaceship to earth. Good plot as any Shmup!

I like this game quite a bit too! There's a review of it right here at shmups.com.

I'm a sucker for games with a charge shot though.

The first level is kinda boring though. Otherwise still a great game. You certainly can't slight it for being unoriginal, it's one of the most distinctive shmups on the Genesis.

Not my favorite Genesis shooter, probably not even top 5, but it's definitely required Genesis shmupping.

The plot has to do with your LIVING bio-ships that decent to earth after an emergency failsafe awakens you.

Apparently there was some sort of bio-organic infection/invasion across the earth.

So yeah...there's your pretentious means to the explody end.

great game... but as has been said it has one of the most pointless first levels in existence. move up two inches.... wait five mins.. move down two inches... wait five mins... repeat until it finally goes away

last stage is a right bitch though. got very close to a 1cc but never quite made it. i'll have to come back to it when i'm done with gunbird

Isn't there a cheat for a 5th ship in this game?

It's the game that made me like shooters. I can basically clear it on VERY HARD mode without losing a life at this point. It's all about the purple helmetted dolphin ship.

i think it deserves a prize for Japanese release title but i really dislike it.

Dragon-Bio 5 Ship
Highlight the ship in the top left corner of the ship selection screen and press A + B + Start. Note: This code may only be enabled in the 1990 version of the game.
I have no sig whatsoever.

Made it to level 4 last night... the crystal things are hard. Cool graphic effects for Genesis.

Yeah Biohazard is a great shmup to have for your Genny!

The only problem I have with it is that it seems like, even though there are 4 avaiable craft to choose from, they really aren't all that different in terms of their weaponry. But there is a REALLY cool homing laser that you can get in this game! :D

I can't understand why I can play X-Multiply just fine, but BioHazard Battle just creeps me out. As in "make the little fuzzy facial hair stand up."

I didn't know Resident Evil was a shmup for the Genny! ;) All joking aside, I definatly want to give Bio Hazard Battle a shot, especially since it can be found for cheap.

I really like it. I've been really close to 1CCing it. and yes, the last level gets pretty bullet crazy! pretty impressive. I love the mood and atmosphere of the game, and i usually don't go crazy about VG music, but the BGM in this game is just awesome.

I found my copy for $1 at a local shop! Haven't really put any time into it yet, but I already got my money's worth.

My Genesis US cart has the dumbest artwork ever on it! It has a lame little SPACESHIP on it, like that's what you're piloting in the game. It doesn't make any sense lol

Get down in the bottom left corner and keep shooting. You can collide with the background graphics here, only the moving crystals can harm you. Aim your pod upwards for defensive fire and you should sail through.

blargh, incredibly plain shmup with near nothing that interests me. it's better than the genney port of Insector-X at least, I'll give it that.

crying is indeed a badass title for this game. personally, I think it alludes to the human race lamenting over the waste of Mother Earth..so now they're crying

Has anyone ever witnessed this code in execution?

Taken from the Goodgen list:

Bio-Hazard Battle (U) (Aug 1992) [h1]
Bio-Hazard Battle (U) (Aug 1992) [t1]
Bio-Hazard Battle (U) (Aug 1992) [x]
Bio-Hazard Battle (UE) (Sep 1992) [!]

In other words there is no known dumped 1990 version. Maybe, just maybe, the poster of that code owns some unknown beta; but the code seems to be fake for now.
